How it works

From Aug. 4 through 10, Target Circle members can bring in any used denim clothing and exchange it for 20% off a new denim purchase. There is a limit of five items, but denim apparel in any condition will be accepted.

Store locations marked for the event have boxes where you can deposit your old jeans. You'll then receive a Target Circle code for 20% off denim apparel. Just be sure to redeem the offer before the event is over.

Which brands are eligible

When Target says all denim apparel, they mean all—every brand is included in this new promotion, including Target-owned brands and national brands.

The only limitation is that accessories do not count as apparel and clearance items are excluded.

It's not just pants

There will, of course, be jean pants available in many styles — but that's not all! Target has classic jean jackets with that 90s look, or go full-length with a denim trench coat.

Skirts, shorts, overalls — any apparel that can be denim is part of this new Target event for Circle members.

Bottom line

Walter Cicchetti - stock.adobe.com Target store exterior

The Denim Take Back Event by Target recognizes the growing consumer concern over reducing waste and is an effort to curate sustainable, eco-friendly practices. Target partners will give used denim new life by recycling or repurposing it, keeping it out of landfills.

Combining a good deal with environmental sustainability encourages better consumer practices, making it more affordable to recycle old jeans than toss them in the garbage. You might know nobody wants your old torn-up jeans, but Target has made throwing them away like throwing money away — and nobody likes that!

Be sure to clean out your closet by Aug. 4 so you can participate in the Denim Take Back Event. Also, remember to sign up for Target Circle if you haven't already.
