These Limited-Time Items at Costco and McDonald's Are Available for a Few More Days

It might be time to forget about your New Year’s diet. Maybe you can do Dry January next month, or maybe just get a few more workouts to feel better about enjoying the products coming back for a limited time. 

McDonald’s is bringing back one of their iconic burgers for a limited time. And if that’s not enough good news, Costco is selling a limited edition, a beautifully designed bottle of Kirkland Scotch whisky to celebrate the Lunar New Year. You might even want to enjoy the two together.

McDonald’s is bringing back the Double Big Mac

If you thought the McDonald’s original Big Mac was huge, get ready for its limited-edition release! McDonald’s claims it gave the beefy burger a “glow up.” Now, this burger is bigger than your head. They’ve piled on four beef patties and lots more Big Mac sauce.

Combined with pickles, cheese, and lettuce, this burger can has been a favorite of many McDonald’s employees for a long time, but it rarely sticks around for long. 

The quadruple burger will appear on McDonald’s menus nationwide on January 24th for a limited time.

Costco's Limited Kirkland Scotch Whisky for Lunar New Year

Costco occasionally creates and sells limited-edition Scotch whiskies. It started in 2022 with a single malt Speyside Scotch, 19 and 20 years old that was aged in sherry casks. Then in 2023, they sold a 15-year-old single malt Scotch. In honor of the Lunar New Year, they’ve rolled out an 8-year-old Scotch whisky that’s housed in a special gold and red designed coffered box.

With its artfully designed bottle, complete with an etched dragon and painted flowers, Kirkland’s 88-proof Scotch whisky is priced at $48.88.

Each of the “eights” associated with this blended Scotch whisky is imbued with a special meaning. According to the Istituto Italo Chinese, “Eight is the luckiest number in Chinese culture …it’s associated with wealth, prosperity, success and status…”

This limited-edition libation is aged in handpicked wood barrels; Costco’s tasting notes state that it is “malty with fresh oak on the nose with hints of ginger and fruit. On the palate, spicy with a pleasing mouth tingle, good richness, and faint smoke.”

In preparation for the Lunar New Year on February 8th, the Kirkland Signature 8-year-old scotch is available now. 

What Costco customers think

This Scotch has members of the Costco Reddit communities hunting it down, as they believe these limited-time deals are one of the great perks of a Costco membership. Each community is passing on where and when this beverage was last spotted. 

A member commented that they “Like it better than 12-year-old Glenlivet I have opened, and 12-year-old Duncan Taylor Blended Scotch whisky.” They finished their post by stating, “When I finish it, I will use it by adding Kirkland Islay so that it will be even better. Dragon with fire, burn, and peat should taste perfect.”

Typically, January is a quiet, dull month. People are recuperating from the holidays. The limited-edition releases of McDonald’s Double Big Mac and the Costco Kirkland Signature limited edition blended Scotch whisky are giving people the perfect excuse to continue celebrating.
