Wells Fargo began offering the option to redeem points for transfers to travel partners on April 4, 2024. Its transfer partners include Air France-KLM Flying Blue, British Airways Executive Club, and more. We like this move by Wells Fargo as it better positions it to compete with other card issuers like Chase, American Express, and Capital One.

Wells Fargo currently has six transfer partners and has promised more in the future. We don’t expect any groundbreaking partners to be announced, but we’re excited that we can use the Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card or Wells Fargo Autograph Journey℠ Card to transfer points.

Key takeaways

  • Wells Fargo began offering point transfers to six transfer partners on April 4, 2024. While we think the number of partners is limited, it’s still a good start, and the card issuer has promised more in the future.
  • Transfers from Wells Fargo to partners happen at a 1:1 ratio except for Choice Privileges, which is a 1:2 ratio.
  • Points-based Wells Fargo travel cards, such as the Wells Fargo Autograph and Wells Fargo Autograph Journey, are eligible for points transfers to travel partners.

Transfer partners overview

Pros
  • The Wells Fargo Autograph is a $0-annual-fee card that allows point transfers
  • Transfers to Choice Privileges have a 1:2 transfer ratio
  • Transfer partners include Air France-KLM and British Airways
Cons
  • Only six transfer partners
  • Only one hotel partner

Wells Fargo is a newcomer to the transfer partners scene, but you might already be familiar with its list of transfer partners. If you currently have one of the best credit cards with American Express, Capital One, Chase, or Citi, you’ll notice these are some fairly common partners.

Wells Fargo Rewards transfer partner Partner category Transfer ratio
Aer Lingus AerClub Airline 1:1
Air France-KLM Flying Blue Airline 1:1
Avianca LifeMiles Airline 1:1
British Airways Executive Club Airline 1:1
Iberia Plus Airline 1:1
Choice Privileges Hotel 1:2

However, we think there’s still plenty of value to unpack here.

Choice Privileges gets a 1:2 transfer ratio, which is great to see. You can also access these transfer partners with the Wells Fargo Autograph, a $0-annual-fee card. With many other card issuers, you have to pay an annual fee to access transfer partners.

What we don’t like about Wells Fargo’s transfer partners is their limited number. You can only choose from six, and only one of those is a hotel partner. Still, it’s a start, and we expect Wells Fargo to add more in the future.

Wells Fargo airline partners

With Wells Fargo, you can transfer to five airline partner loyalty programs.

1. Aer Lingus AerClub

Aer Lingus is Ireland’s flagship carrier, operating over 100 routes from Ireland to Europe and North America.

Aer Lingus AerClub uses Avios as its currency. We like using Avios because of its flexibility. We can use Avios with British Airways Executive Club, Iberia Plus, and Qatar Airways Privilege Club and combine it among different loyalty program accounts.

Some excellent Aer Lingus redemption options include flights from North America to Ireland, such as this one-way ticket from Boston to Dublin for 13,000 Avios plus taxes and fees.

2. Air France-KLM Flying Blue

The Air France and KLM partnership covers 318 destinations in 118 countries and carries over 77 million passengers per year. Its two main hubs are Paris for Air France and Amsterdam for KLM.

We like Air France-KLM because both airline partners are members of the SkyTeam Alliance. That gives you plenty of access to flights worldwide, including partners like Delta and Virgin Atlantic.

The Air France-KLM Flying Blue program regularly offers promo rewards on certain routes. For example, here’s a one-way flight from Atlanta to Amsterdam for 15,000 miles plus taxes and fees.

3. Avianca LifeMiles

Avianca is the largest airline in Colombia, helping transport over 29 million passengers per year to more than 108 destinations. As a member of the Star Alliance, Avianca travelers can access over 1,300 airports across 191 countries.

We like that Avianca, with its Star Alliance connections, provides various award redemption opportunities for flights worldwide. That includes some appealing flights to South America, such as this United Airlines flight from Houston to Lima for 20,000 LifeMiles plus taxes and fees.

4. British Airways Executive Club

British Airways has been in service for over 100 years, providing flights to North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia from its multi-airport London hub.

British Airways Executive Club is a common transfer partner for credit card issuers. It can also be a useful one since you can combine Avios across other Avios-earning programs, such as Aer Lingus and Iberia Plus. We like the access this provides to more redemption opportunities on top of the partner award flights you can already book through the oneworld alliance.

We’ve used British Airways Avios primarily for short flights because British Airways uses a distance-based award chart. So you can use a small number of points for short distances, including intra-Japan flights.

5. Iberia Plus

Iberia is the largest airline in Spain, serving over 47 million passengers across 29 Spanish airports. With Iberia, you can travel to almost 140 cities.

The Iberia Plus loyalty program uses the Avios currency, so you have more redemption options with Aer Lingus, British Airways, and Qatar Airways. However, we think some of the available redemption options on Iberia itself are great.

For just 34,000 Avios, you could be sitting pretty in a one-way business class flight from Chicago to Madrid.

Wells Fargo hotel partners

There’s only a single hotel partner for now with Choice Privileges. However, we think Choice provides some fantastic redemption opportunities.

Choice Privileges

This hotel partner makes sense because Wells Fargo already has a relationship with Choice Privileges as it issues the Choice Privileges® Mastercard® Credit Card and Choice Privileges® Select Mastercard® Credit Card.

You can transfer Wells Fargo points to Choice Privileges at a 1:2 ratio. That means if you transfer 10,000 Wells Fargo points, you’ll receive 20,000 Choice Privileges points.

We like this partnership because of the 1:2 transfer ratio, which opens up valuable hotel opportunities worldwide. That includes the Comfort Hotel Gardenia Sorrento Coast in lovely Sorrento, Italy, for only 12,000 Choice points per night (or 6,000 Wells Fargo points).

Citibank and Capital One also have Choice Privileges as a transfer partner, but only Citi has the attractive 1:2 ratio, and that’s only for certain cardmembers.

How to earn more Wells Fargo points for transfers

The primary way to earn Wells Fargo points is to use eligible Wells Fargo credit cards for their welcome offers and daily earning rates.

Card Welcome offer Rewards rate Annual fee

Wells Fargo Autograph Journey℠ Card Wells Fargo Autograph Journey℠ Card

You can use either of these cards for everyday spending, but the Wells Fargo Autograph has spending categories that better align with common purchases. For travel-related purchases, the Wells Fargo Autograph Journey has the better earning potential.
