Spotting new foods at Costco always excites shoppers, but the latest bakery items are being met with strongly mixed reactions. The wholesale giant has been adding new products to its bakery section all summer, largely to the delight of consumers — but will the new items be as successful?
Families have all become more discerning and critical while grocery shopping in the face of continually rising food prices. This means new products must be delicious and affordable, or customers might skip them in favor of an already-known product rather than try to squeeze something new into their budget.
Trying some of the best Costco shopping hacks can stretch your budget, but are the new products worth it? Learn all about the three new bakery items that have everybody buzzing.

Honey Wheat Bagels
Price: $7.99 per dozen
The Costco bakery regularly stocks plain and blueberry bagels, but now they've added a heartier option of Honey Wheat Bagels covered with oats and seeds. The mix-and-match six-pack is still available, so you don't have to commit to buying a lot to try out the new bagel.
Pineapple Upside Down Cakes
Price: $13.99
The new pineapple upside-down cakes, loaded with a thick layer of caramelized pineapples on top and made with real pineapple juice in the batter, have some shoppers drooling.
Others are not impressed and call out the lack of maraschino cherries, which usually add a splash of color to the top of the classic cake.
Raspberry Morning Buns
Price: $8.99 (9-pack)
Earlier this year, Costco rolled out a limited-time orange and cinnamon morning bun. The newest addition is very similar but features a raspberry fruit flavor — and not everybody loves it.
Some lament the choice of fruit and wish there were other options; others suggest the pastries are too dry. Some rave reviews, though, suggest the best way to prepare the buns is by dropping them in the air fryer for five minutes at 350 degrees to get the perfect breakfast pastry.

Bottom line
Customers love trying new items at Costco's bakery, but the newest additions are being met with mixed reviews, so you might want to try them yourself to decide if they are worth the hype. Increasing grocery prices may leave some hesitant to try new things they may not enjoy, feeling like it's wasting money, but there are some great grocery budget hacks that can make room in even the tightest budgets to try some new products.
