15 Hot Wheels Cars That Are Worth a Fortune Today

If you have some old Hot Wheels sitting around, they may be a way for you to make extra money. Depending on the model, some collectors may shell out big bucks — think tens of thousands of dollars.

Several original Hot Wheels cars are worth a pretty penny, with some worth more than the average American's car. Here are 15 of the most valuable Hot Wheels.

The Rodger Dodger model from 1974, painted light blue with flames on the front, has rarity going for it.

The car seems difficult to come by, and if you have one in decent condition, even if some repairs were needed, it's worth something. One sold on eBay for over $2,000. Others have gone for closer to $40.

There were a few Custom Camaro models from Hot Wheels back in 1968, and how much you can get for one depends on the color and, of course, the condition.

The 1971 Olds 442 Hot Wheels all seem to have some value on the resale market, but a rare Olds 442 in yellow appears to be a rarity worthy of some serious dough.

Any Red Ferrari 312P models in decent condition are going to be worth some dough. Most fetch between $30 and $50.

However, according to Car and Driver magazine, it may be worth thousands if you can find one with a white interior.

If you have any of the decked-out, funky-looking Bye-Focal Hot Wheels, you can probably sell them for a few hundred dollars — most magenta versions go for $100-$200.

Car and Driver reports that if you can find a rare purple Bye-Focal, it could be worth several thousand dollars.

If you have any of the 1969 '31 Hot Wheels models, you can likely sell them for a few hundred dollars on eBay if they're in decent condition).

One orange '31 Woody sold for $225. A purple one went for $180.

According to Car and Driver, if you come across an authentic Ed Shaver AMX, complete with a graphic on the side, you could be looking at a payday of up to $10,000.

Right now, only restored versions are for sale on eBay, and they sell for around $300, though an extremely rare one sold for $999.

Custom Chargers, released in 1969, have an authentic, vintage feel, even if they have a few scratches and dings.

Most on eBay earn you over $100, but if you find an extremely rare brown, the payday could be up to $13,000.

Although the Candy Striper Gasser was only released a few years ago, it's still a rare and highly sought-after Hot Wheels collector's item.

The pink and white striped gasser is currently listed on eBay for over $1,600. Most end up selling for around $150.

There's no doubt that the Mighty Maverick is a cool-looking miniature car. With a striped top and a giant spoiler on the back, these wheels are worth a small fortune today.

In fact, one unopened purple 1970 Mighty Maverick is currently listed for nearly $1,300 on eBay.  Most likely, yours would sell for around $200 like others on eBay.

A 1968 lime green Over Chrome Camaro is among the rarest Hot Wheels available. It was likely created only for advertising purposes, and only about 20 are thought to exist.

It could sell for up to $25,000.

Like the Over Chrome Camaro, Car and Driver notes that a red Over Chrome Mustang was likely created only for advertising purposes.

It's hard to put a price tag on such a unique car, but the magazine estimates it could be worth up to $40,000.

You'd be hard-pressed to find an original pink, rear-loading Beach Bomb, as the toy was reportedly redesigned, and only a few of the originals still exist.

If you can find the OG pink van with surfboards packed into the back, Car and Driver estimates it could be worth up to $175,000 (even replicas are going for $300 on eBay).

Factors like the Hot Wheel's condition, whether it's authentic (or a remake), and whether you can find the right buyer come into play when considering how much you can make selling them.
