The Body Shop Is Closing These 61 Stores in 2024

The Body Shop used to be a mainstay in malls and shopping centers across the U.S., but you won't be able to find them anymore.

The company filed for bankruptcy and shut down all its locations in America as of March 1, shuttering dozens of locations across the country. While having fewer places to shop might keep more cash in your wallet, nobody likes seeing their favorite retailers close down. 

So, was your city affected by the closings? Here are a few of the stores that were shut down, along with information about where you can still get Body Shop products.

Fourteen The Body Shop locations are no longer operational in California. That includes stores in its major metropolitan areas of Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego.

The 14 stores were the most for any state in the U.S. and double the number of stores in the second-highest state, New York.

New York had seven Body Shop stores, including two in New York City. The store was so popular that it once had a presence at the famed Rockefeller Center.

The Sunshine State wasn't so sunny for The Body Shop, which closed down six Florida locations as part of its pullout from American markets.

The stores included a shop at the Miami International Mall.

Charlotte, North Carolina, was the American city that took the biggest hit from The Body Shop closing down.

Charlotte had four shops before the company announced it was ceasing operations in the U.S. Its location at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport was among the stores that shuttered.

Illinois was one of several states that had multiple Body Shop locations before the company shut down. Two of the three stores in Illinois were in Chicago.

All U.S. stores closed down, but Canada still has plenty of locations open if you ever find yourself venturing north.

The company announced that it was closing 33 of its 105 stores across the country, however.

The 33 stores that closed are located throughout Canada, with many cities losing their only Body Shop location.

Multiple locations were also shut down in other cities, including five stores in Toronto, three stores in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and two stores in Ottawa, Ontario.

The Body Shop opened its first store in Brighton, England, in 1976, and there are still locations in the country where you can get The Body Shop products.

But the company's bankruptcy also affected stores in its home country. A total of 75 stores are closed or will be closing in the next few weeks across the UK as part of the filing.

The company closed Body Shop locations across the UK, including one on Regent Street in London and spots in Brixton and Stratford Upon Avon.

Several locations in Scotland also closed, including three Body Shop stores in Glasgow and two stores in Edinburgh.

It can be tough to lose one of your favorite stores. The upside of such a sad event is that you can avoid wasting money on unnecessary purchases.

Or, if you simply cannot do without those beauty products, know that there are still other retailers that sell such items.
