Key takeaways

  • Scrambly offers plenty of different apps to try, so you aren’t likely to run out of tasks to complete.
  • Some of Scrambly’s premium content, such as online surveys and certain offers, require you to complete a profile and make your first withdrawal.
  • Scrambly requires a minimum of $1 to cash out. To make my withdrawal, I had to go through a short identity verification process. I used my phone to take a selfie and a picture of my driver’s license. It took about two minutes.
  • Scrambly’s payout methods — like PayPal and Amazon gift cards — are actually good and almost instantaneous in my experience. Many similar platforms I tested and reviewed take one to three days to pay out.
  • The Scrambly mobile app is only available for Android devices through Google Play. I use an iPhone, but fortunately, iOS users can still use a web browser and test iOS apps on Scrambly with QR codes.

What is Scrambly?

Scrambly is a free mobile app and online platform that lets you earn real money or gift cards for testing other apps, playing games, using products and services, and taking online surveys.

Scrambly provides a streamlined sign-up and testing process. The platform offers plenty of apps to test and performs a quick identity verification before the first withdrawal, which took me only two minutes to complete.

Scrambly device availability

While Scrambly has a web version that you can access on various devices, the Scrambly mobile app is only available for Android devices via Google Play.

Since I don’t have an Android device, I signed up on my computer’s web browser. I saw several iOS apps available to test on the web platform. To test each of them, Scrambly provided me with a QR code that I simply scanned with my iPhone.

My Scrambly usability experience

Scrambly is among the most straightforward product testing and online survey platforms I have reviewed. This compares to some other platforms that glitch or have complicated processes for validating testing activity.

I had a smooth experience using Scrambly. Everything from tracking my app usage to making withdrawals to getting paid for online surveys went off without a hitch. The platform's solid ratings of 4.7 out of 5 on Trustpilot and 4.5 out of 5 on Google Play reflect this hassle-free experience.

How much can you earn with Scrambly?

Scrambly estimates you can make anywhere from $100 to over $1,000 per month on their platform, depending on how much time you put in. Based on my experience testing it out, those numbers are reasonable.

Here’s how much I made with Scrambly

I tried out a few different games and an online survey myself, and here's how much I racked up.

  • Colorwood Sort Puzzle Game: Earned 710 coins in around 25 minutes of playtime.
  • Age Of Coins: Master Of Spins: I walked away with 410 coins after about an hour.
  • Took an online survey: Just a 10-minute survey paid 320 coins.

Keep in mind that 1,000 coins translate to $1. I started with 500 coins, and after a testing spree that included playing games, taking a quick survey, and completing my profile, my balance was over 2,000 coins.

The puzzle game was definitely the bigger earner of the two games I tested. But that short survey paid a decent number of coins for the invested time.

The two games I played were very different, which is something you’ll probably run into as you use Scrambly. Looking back, I should have switched away from the second game once I saw how slow the earnings were trickling in. Though, to be fair, the first game was also getting tougher, which would have affected my earnings.

Scrambly affiliate program and referrals

One avenue I didn't dig into (but could be lucrative) is Scrambly's affiliate program and friend referrals. You get:

  • A $3 bonus for each affiliated user who makes a withdrawal
  • A 10% return on your referrals' lifetime earnings

This means you can get a nice boost on how much you make. That’s why Scrambly offers some excellent earning opportunities for a game-testing and online survey platform.

How do you get paid with Scrambly?

You can cash out once you hit 1,000 coins (equal to $1) in your Scrambly account.

However, you'll need to quickly verify your identity before you can make your first withdrawal. This is a pretty easy process that took me only about two minutes using my phone.

When it comes to payout options, Scrambly gives you some good choices.

  • PayPal
  • Gift cards for Amazon, Visa, Google Play, Apple, Spotify, and Walmart

I tried out both the PayPal and Amazon gift card withdrawal methods, and they were both quick.

For PayPal, I just entered my PayPal email, and the money arrived in my PayPal balance instantly. With Amazon, I quickly received a gift card code that I applied to my Amazon account.

My experience using Scrambly

The Scrambly app and online platforms work as launching pads for finding apps to test, games to play, or surveys to complete.

Everything is organized in the Earn & Save section where you can toggle between the Apps & Games and Surveys categories. For app testing, I was able to filter by iOS, Android, desktop, or just view all the available options together.

Even though there's no dedicated Scrambly app for iOS, I could still test out multiple iPhone apps. To do this, I selected an iOS app through the web platform, received a QR code, and used my iPhone or iPad to scan it and start testing. Scrambly automatically tracked my usage.

The selection of games rotates, but there’s a good variety to choose from. I played a puzzle block game and a dice and adventure game. The gameplay and earning rates these two games offered varied quite a bit.

As for the online surveys, I needed to fill out some basic profile information like birthday, gender, interests, and so on, then Scrambly matched me with surveys to take.

I'll admit I was a little confused because I didn’t know when the screening questionnaire was over and the actual survey began. But eventually a notification popped up saying I had completed one and earned 320 coins — not bad for about 10 minutes of my time.

Tips for boosting your Scrambly earnings

  • Look for big payouts: Look at the payout amounts listed on each app offer and knock out the bigger paying ones first to maximize your earnings.
  • Review the requirements: For example, one payout required that I complete 1,800 levels of a game to receive 25,000 coins ($25). This requirement is so high it isn’t worth my time.
  • Find apps you’re likely to use: See if Scrambly has any offers for apps you already planned on signing up for. The platform offers various apps, including some personal finance apps.
  • Play fun games you’re interested in: If you're going to be playing games for weeks to complete all the achievements, pick the ones you enjoy.
  • Become an affiliate or refer your friends: You can receive 3,000 coins ($3) for every referred person who withdraws or 10% of your friend referrals’ earnings for life.
  • Play in your free time: Take advantage of your free time by starting a quick game session. The games I tested were easy to play and didn’t take up much effort.
