Is Scrambly legit?
Scrambly is a legit get-paid-to (GPT) app that pays you real money to test games and sign up for offers. I tested it to confirm that it actually works and really pays.
The Scrambly app has over two million active users and more than one million downloads, with a 4.5-star rating on Google Play. Scrambly isn't as popular as other cash rewards apps I've tried, like Freecash or Mistplay, but it has an excellent Trustpilot rating of 4.4 out of 5 stars on over 10,000 reviews (which is impressive for an app like this).
With Scrambly, as with any GPT site or game app that pays money, the amount you earn will be more like a great addition to your sweet treat fund than a paycheck replacer. In other words, don't quit your day job. Even when these apps earn a lot relative to each other, and Scrambly pays decently well, that doesn't mean they earn a lot relative to a 9-to-5 job or even some other side hustles.
My experience testing Scrambly + how it works
Signing up for Scrambly
I was able to create and verify my Scrambly profile in less than a minute (and earn 500 bonus coins in the process).
While Scrambly has a web version that you can access on various devices, the Scrambly mobile app is only available for Android devices via Google Play.
Since I don't have an Android device, I signed up on my computer's web browser. I saw several iOS apps available to test on the web platform. To test each of them, Scrambly provided me with a QR code that I simply scanned with my iPhone.
If you're an iOS user and would rather find a platform you can use on your phone, consider some of our other favorite iPhone cash game apps.
Making money with Scrambly
Once you're signed up for Scrambly, you can earn points by completing certain actions. The apps you can use or test fall into the categories of gaming, finance, entertainment, shopping, services, and deals. You can toggle between the different categories and filter based on the type of device you're using.
Some of the categories make it easy to earn the maximum bonus. For example, you can earn 6,000 coins just by using the Capital One Shopping mobile extension. But others take a bit longer.
For example, using Solitaire Smash: Real Cash, you'll only get 10 coins for playing the game. To earn any significant number of points, you'll have to deposit money into the game and reach certain levels. However, the maximum reward is over 113,000 coins, which comes to more than $100.
Overall, Scrambly estimates you can make anywhere from $100 to more than $1,000 per month on their platform, depending on how much time you put in. Based on my experience testing it out, those numbers do actually seem reasonable.
Other ways to make money on Scrambly include downloading and using personal finance apps (Stash, Chime®, and Acorns are a couple of examples), signing up for a USA Today subscription, completing surveys on Survey Junkie, and more.1 <p class="">Chime is a financial technology company, not a bank. Banking services and debit card provided by The Bancorp Bank, N.A. or Stride Bank, N.A.; Members FDIC. <br></p> For example, you could earn coins on Scrambly by setting up your Acorns account, setting up a recurring contribution, etc.
Getting paid with Scrambly
You can cash out once you hit 1,000 coins (equal to $1) in your Scrambly account. This is a relatively low payout threshold.
However, you'll need to quickly verify your identity before you can make your first payout. This is a pretty easy process that took me only about two minutes using my phone.
When it comes to payout options, Scrambly gives you some good choices:
- Transfer directly to bank account
- PayPal withdrawal
- Gift cards for Amazon, Visa, Google Play, Apple, Spotify, and Walmart
I tried out both the PayPal and Amazon gift card withdrawal methods, and they were both quick.
For PayPal, I just entered my PayPal email, and the money arrived in my PayPal balance instantly. With Amazon, I quickly received a gift card code that I applied to my Amazon account!
Scrambly affiliate and referral program
You can make even more money from Scrambly by recommending it to others. You can earn 10,000 coins when someone you refer makes their first withdrawal. You'll also earn a 10% lifetime bonus on their earnings. The friend who signs up from your link will get 5,000 free coins after they earn their first 5,000 coins.
Scrambly usability
The Scrambly app and online platforms work as launching pads for finding apps to test, games to play, or surveys to complete. Scrambly is among the most straightforward product testing and online survey platforms I have reviewed. This compares to some other platforms that glitch or have complicated processes for validating testing activity.
I had a smooth experience using Scrambly. Everything from tracking my app usage to making withdrawals to getting paid for online surveys went off without a hitch. The platform's solid ratings of 4.4 out of 5 on Trustpilot and 4.5 out of 5 on Google Play reflect this hassle-free experience.
Tips for boosting your Scrambly earnings
- Look for big payouts: Look at the payout amounts listed on each app offer and knock out the bigger paying ones first to maximize your earnings.
- Review the requirements: For example, one payout required that I complete 1,800 levels of a game to receive 25,000 coins ($25). This requirement is so high it isn't worth my time.
- Find apps you're likely to use: See if Scrambly has any offers for apps you already planned on signing up for. The platform offers various apps, including some personal finance apps.
- Play fun games you're interested in: If you're going to be playing games for weeks to complete all the achievements, pick the ones you enjoy.
- Become an affiliate or refer your friends: You can earn cash rewards for referring other people to the platform, including bonus coins when they make their first withdrawal and a lifetime bonus on their earnings.
- Play in your free time: Take advantage of your free time by starting a quick game session. The games I tested were easy to play and didn't take up much effort.

Alternatives to Scrambly
If Scrambly doesn't offer the type of testing you enjoy or if you prefer to play a specific game instead of switching between different apps and games, consider other legit game apps that pay real money, such as Freecash, InboxDollars, and Cash Giraffe. You can also check out our list of the best apps like Scrambly.
Inbox Dollars
For another app that's similar to Scrambly with different ways to make money, consider InboxDollars. This platform, which offers an iOS app and Android app, is a get-paid-to app with a broader task variety. You can earn cash by taking paid surveys, playing games, using the Bing search engine, or even reading emails. InboxDollars is unique for the types of tasks you can get paid to complete, so you should check it out if you're not interested in Scrambly's offerings.

Freecash
Freecash is another platform that'll pay you to play games, take surveys, and test out products. It's one of the most popular rewards platforms out there, offering one of the largest libraries of offers you'll find. As of this writing, Freecash claims to pay up to $2,500 per offer, with 8,512 offers available. You'll get paid primarily based on achievements and levels you reach in games, rather than time played.
Freecash is available on desktop and as an Android or iOS app, and it's rated even better than Scrambly on Trustpilot, with 4.8 stars. While Freecash is a great app to make money playing games, its payout structure can be a little confusing, and you'll have to sift through a lot of offers to find the highest payouts. But if you don't mind either, you'll like Freecash.
