Nobody knows how or when this completely fabricated holiday began in the U.S., but dedicating an entire day to celebrating various ways to prepare fried chicken does score some deals at fast food chains. 

Kentucky Fried Chicken expanded the holiday to Australia in 2018; however, due to the time zone difference, it's observed on July 7.

KFC is offering half-off all its chicken sandwiches on July 6, a perfect way to celebrate the glory that is chicken dropped in sizzling oil and fried until golden and delicious. 

The classic Extra Crispy Chicken sandwich has a flavor profile like Chick-fil-A, served with pickles and real mayo, but with crispier chicken overall. KFC is also offering a free 10-piece Saucy Nuggets with any order of $10 or more.
