It’s been tough for Rite Aid customers as the pharmacy chain announced it’s shutting down more locations.

The company’s bankruptcy plans were approved in June, allowing it to cut $2 billion in debt as part of a restructuring plan. The plan also means cutting stores from the company’s portfolio.

Michigan’s Rite Aid locations continue a trend of closures. The state has seen several stores leave since the company first announced it would be filing for bankruptcy in October.

This batch of stores represents another 18 locations that will be shut down as part of the company’s restructuring plan.

The new set of 13 locations is another round of closings that Rite Aid customers have had to ensure over the past several months with two additional rounds of shutdowns.

Rite Aid began to shut down locations when it first announced it would be filing for bankruptcy in October 2023.

The company’s original announcement said it would initially close around 150 locations, with more than 40 stores closing in Rite Aid’s home state of Pennsylvania.

The number of stores shutting down grew after the original announcement with more locations getting shuttered in the past few months.

The company started with 2,000 locations in October before the announcement. Still, it will likely end up with around 1,300 stores when it finally cuts enough locations to help it through its Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.

If you have a prescription with Rite Aid, it’s a good idea to check with the retailer and find out what you should do with your current prescriptions.

Some prescriptions may be transferred to your local Walgreens or you may be able to arrange an alternative to get your prescriptions filled somewhere else.

You don’t have to take your prescriptions to another local pharmacy chain, and there are other options you may not have considered before.

Stores like Costco and Sam’s Club have pharmacies that you can use to fill your prescriptions instead.

You may also want to go online to places like Cost Drugs Plus, which can help you get the same prescriptions for less if they’re available.

Rite Aid has been struggling in recent years with billions of dollars in debt that it needed to account for, which included shutting down stores.

The company has faced debt issues due to slumping sales as well as legal issues with filling painkiller prescriptions that may have been done illegally.

Rite Aid isn’t the only pharmacy chain that’s been struggling with financial issues and isn’t the only one that has closed locations due to money struggles.

CVS and Walgreens have also recently closed locations as they fight financial problems, and locations across the country have been affected by shutdowns.

Pharmacies aren’t the only retail spaces affected by closures to help cut costs. Retailers like Macy’s and Dollar Tree have closed locations due to a tough financial environment.

Other retailers, like The Body Shop and Rue21, have closed all their retail locations in the U.S.
