13 Criminally Underrated, Cheap Buc-ee’s Items Reddit Can’t Get Enough Of

Roadside attractions don’t normally attract a cult-like following. But most roadside attractions aren’t Buc-ee’s, the Texan convenience store/travel station that has started to crop up everywhere.

Road trippers and regional workers can’t stop talking about it. Not only can you find some fun snacks and trinkets, but you can actually save money on travel with a stop at Buc-ee’s.

If you are taking your pets with you to Buc-ee’s, there’s a good chance you bring them with you on the road frequently.

Making sure their paws are clean and their toenails are healthy, especially after trips outside, can help reduce the tracking of mud and germs into your home. Buc-ee’s has a branded pet paw washer, which is perfect for travel.

Looking for a regular caffeine fix? Buc-ee’s has a surprisingly bold house blend coffee that will have you coming back for more.

Reddit users rave about the cleanliness and variety of options when it comes to coffee at their self-serve java stations. Prices range from 99 cents to $1.59 on average in-store.

If you can’t head to Buc-ee’s for morning brew often, you can easily order a 12oz bag or single-serving K-cups of the house blend 100% Arabica coffee online.

Buc-ees carries travel cups of pudding that look like delicious ice cream desserts and are no less incredible.

If you have never had kolaches — a delicious Czech pastry — then you are in luck. I love a pastry that is perfect for breakfast, lunch, or a snack.

It sounds crazy, but Buc-ee’s has some pretty incredible kolaches, both sweet and savory. In recent months, when news of a potential discontinuation of the product hit Reddit, people reacted poorly.

Luckily, the rumor was debunked quickly, and these inexpensive delights are still around.

Several Reddit threads credit the Yukon brand thermal cups and mugs with being comparable to Stanley.

With the power to keep a beverage hot for up to 6 hours or cold for up to 24, these double-walled containers come in a variety of colors in 20, 30, and 40oz options.

It looks like the best deal could be the 30oz mug, which is available for $15.99 on Amazon.

The bumper sticker selection is one of the most entertaining of any stop along the highway.

Fans can pick up branded bumper stickers with phrases like “Can we stop at Buc-ee’s?” and “I love Buc-ee’s,” in addition to stickers with the mascot’s beaver face on them.

There are cult followers of the brand who love to decorate their cars - and their drinkware - with these stickers.

As a big fan of chocolate — and as a former 8-year-old who was obsessed with geodes from multiple trips to the southwest — the chocolate rocks at Buc-ee’s are vital to my experience.

At $1.99 for 3 ounces, they’re too inexpensive and bring too much joy to pass up.

Buc-ee’s has a delightful apparel section, though it isn’t always a bargain shopping experience. From swim trunks to button-up shirts to dresses to hats and accessories, you can find the mascot on virtually any clothing item.

Our current favorite? Buc-ee’s Desert and Tropical shirts, short-sleeve button-ups with two unique designs. The Tropical Camper has a very bright, 90s-leaning aesthetic, while the Desert Camper is very toned down, with a more natural beige aesthetic.

Both shirt options are really fun, though admittedly loud, ways to rep your favorite highway pit stop. A few reviews online reported that they run small, so keep that in mind when making a purchase.

Another branded classic Buc-ee’s gem is the 13oz bags of Beaver Nuggets.

They aren’t what they sound like, however. Instead, they are incredibly addictive light, airy, sweet, and salty puffed corn snacks.

Their popularity has inspired additional flavors that sell better than any other snack in the shop. You can now nab them in white cheddar, white cheddar habanero, sea salted caramel, cinnamon sweet, bold n’ spicy.

Based on some of the other items in-store and the cleanliness level of each location, you wouldn’t necessarily assume the fuel would be less expensive here.

But Buc-ee’s historically has dirt-cheap gas prices. Plus, you can top up on diesel and ethanol-free fuel and find EV charging stations at most locations.

The current regular gas price at the closest Buc-ee’s location is $2.99. This isn’t dissimilar to other gas stations in the area at present.

Looking for a surprisingly flavorful, hot meal? Reddit can’t get enough of the barbecue brisket sandwich, which is served on a bun with onions and pickles.

Other options that are less highly touted but will save you a couple of bucks–include the sausage sandwich ($4.99) and turkey sandwich ($5.99).

While barbecue sandwiches aren’t great road food, and Buc-ee’s doesn’t have a dining area, finding a park nearby could make this a fun family outing.
