According to Walmart, a Walmart+ membership could help you save $1,300 a year. But could it really help you keep more in your bank account?

For a fee of $12.95 per month ($98 per year plus taxes), you gain access to a number of features and unlimited shipping.

Even if you don’t shop at Walmart often, but you’ve heard of the perks of this program, you may want to consider how it could make life a bit easier for you.

One of the best reasons to use Walmart+ is that it provides you with free delivery of your groceries (or anything else you buy) directly from the store without any added cost.

With no delivery fees at all, you’re able to head online, add the items you want to your cart, and then wait for someone else to shop and deliver them to your door. There’s no delivery fee as long as you spend the $35 minimum purchase.

Free shipping lovers

You don’t have to use their delivery service to benefit from Walmart+. If you often use their website to make purchases, this membership gives you access to free shipping. There’s no minimum order to qualify for this type of savings.

Free shipping also applies to many of the company’s products, except for items within the Marketplace or those with location or freight surcharges (like big, bulky furniture.)

Frequent Walmart shoppers

One of the perks of a Walmart+ membership is a rewards program. With Walmart Rewards, you’ll learn reward points from your shopping either online or in-store that you can then apply to your next purchase.

The process is simple. Just add rewards to your account using the app or the website, buy the items that are eligible for the points, and then check out.

If you shop at Walmart often, these rewards will add up quickly. It only takes a few minutes to scroll through the available offers to find out what you want to buy.

Long line haters

If you’re one of the many people who hate to shop at Walmart because of the long lines or self-checkouts, Walmart+ provides you with access to Mobile Scan & Go.

The service is available in many Walmarts and lets you use your smartphone to scan items as you put them in your cart. You can bag them as you go too.

After you complete your shopping, you check out contact-free. That means no long lines or having to unload, bag, and reload your cart with self-scanning.

If you’re already using the Walmart app, there’s nothing more to it.

Movie or sports fans

Walmart+ members also receive access to Paramount+. This streaming service gives you access to more than 40,000 episodes of material, from videos and documentaries to full-length movies.

It also provides access to live sports. That includes all CBS Sports, such as soccer, the NFL, and international sports programming.

With a qualifying membership to Walmart+, you don’t have to pay more to access Paramount+.

Frequent drivers

Most people appreciate saving a bit of money on gas, and Walmart+ can help.

If you live near one of the 14,000 qualifying gas stations, you can save 10 cents a gallon on your fuel costs.

You don’t have to have a Walmart store with a gas station by you. Many national gas stations qualify, including Exxon and Mobil. Just use the app to find those that are closest to you.

Video gamers

When the PS5 was launched, finding the console in stock was hard to do. The same applies to some of the games for them today.

If you’re a gamer and want a PS5 product, the Walmart+ app can help you. The app will provide you with updates (called restock alerts) when you sign up.

That means you’ll be able to get the latest games sooner, though you’ll still have to act faster than anyone else. You can also get alerts on Xbox Series X products.

Prescription takers

Switching your prescription medications to Walmart could be beneficial just for the savings the retailer offers over other pharmacies.

If you have a Walmart+ membership, Rx for Less is a perk that may be available to you. It provides discounts on some of the most common medications people use today, including medications for antibiotics, diabetes medications, and mental health prescriptions.

Some of these medications cost nothing, while others are discounted by up to 85%.

Sales shoppers

If you love a good deal and shop the sales regularly, you could benefit from Walmart+.

First, it offers members early access to the Walmart Black Friday and Walmart Deals for Days shopping events. That means you can easily check out what’s going to be on sale, plan your trip, and get it all shipped to your door without any shipping fees.

You can also set up the app to provide you with alerts when items go on sale, ensuring you don’t miss any of the big savings opportunities.

Rewards card lovers

If you pair the Walmart+ membership alongside your Walmart Rewards Card, you could reap even bigger rewards. There are some requirements, but if you have this card, you could amplify your savings.

The rewards card doesn’t have an annual fee and gives you 5% back on the purchases you make using the card at Walmart during the first 12 months.

That includes purchases made on the app and the company’s website. You also get 2% back on qualified gas station purchases.

Combining these offers could help you to save more on the items that you likely need to purchase anyway.

If you’re still not sure if Walmart+ could help you boost your bank account or make life a bit easier, consider the 30-day free trial.

Most of the savings and programs are available during that initial period, though some benefits aren't available until your trial ends.

You can also cancel your membership at any time, which can give you some confidence that you’re not locked in for the long term.

For many people, Walmart+ is an investment worth checking out.
