7 Lucky Cities Finally Getting an IKEA (Is Yours One?)

As of 2025, IKEA has 484 stores located in 63 separate markets worldwide, including 74 in North America. This Swedish company offers low-cost, do-it-yourself furniture and home goods that help you keep more cash in your wallet.

In an effort to expand its share of the market, the retailer recently added two new store concepts: Plan and order as well as small-format.

Cherry Hill residents can now avoid the 30-minute drive to Philadelphia thanks to the mini-IKEA location in the Ellisburg Shopping Center on Route 70 in Camden County. This location differs from traditional stores because it doesn't stock items for immediate purchase or include the famous meatball subs. Like other plan and order point locations, this store allows residents to schedule appointments with planning experts to help design rooms based on personal preferences and budget.

The Hunt Valley IKEA is conveniently located on the north side of town in the Towne Centre shopping mall. The center also features a Wegmans grocery store, multiple other retailers, apartments, and restaurants, allowing retirees to finish errands in one location. Like other plan and order point locations, this IKEA store can even assist with assembly through TaskRabbit Assembly, helping consumers save money while shopping.

The San Marcos location is the first small-city IKEA in Texas, giving easy access to Austin and San Antonio residents. The store has over 2,500 displayed products and 2,000 items for immediate purchase, including a limited selection of Swedish food. Customers can order from the full catalog of IKEA products and have them shipped to the store or their homes. The grand opening is scheduled for July. IKEA's intentional maze-like setup helps maximize product visibility and engagement.

The average IKEA store is around 300,000 square feet and offers more than 12,000 in-store products. A large-format store plans to open in Fall 2025 in McAllen for Rio Grande Valley residents. This location offers 1,800 items with the full range of products available for online order and in-store pickup. Seniors can also break from shopping and enjoy hot and cold food options.

In Dallas, the new IKEA will open in late Fall 2025 at The Shops at Park Lane. This location will feature a unique two-level shopping experience with more than 3,200 products, including food. While the store is slightly larger than IKEA's small-format store, it still only has 63,000 square feet of shopping space. The smaller stores are a more affordable way for the company to provide access to customers in urban locations.

Rockwall IKEA is scheduled to open in Spring 2026 with a one-level, 108,875 square foot location that's close to Interstate 30. The store will feature several fully furnished rooms on display. Large items, such as sofas and beds, will be available for order with smaller take-home items for immediate purchase. This location is the third in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

The new IKEA for Phoenix is scheduled to open early in 2026 at the Village Square II shopping center. The area is also home to a TJ Maxx, Target, Costco, and multiple restaurants. It will be the third IKEA location in the Phoenix metro area. The store will have 75,000 square feet of retail space with over 3,000 items for immediate purchase. The location will have an as-is department with slightly damaged or clearance items.
