Publix Is Finally Expanding (Are More on the Way?)

Shoppers in the South love Publix to save money on groceries and other items. Soon, even more shoppers in this particular state will get a chance to save big at the supermarket. 

Publix just confirmed a new store set to open in Kentucky, bringing the state's total to four planned stores after recent announcements of other locations in the works.

So where exactly can residents of Kentucky expect to find the grocery store? While no opening dates have been announced yet, check out these new spots to see if one is opening near you.

• Madison Pike and Harris Pike

Store officials announced today that a new location is slated to open at this intersection and will include a Publix liquor store as part of the 48,387-square-foot facility.

• AA Highway and Alexandria Pike

The company confirmed in April that a new location will be coming to the corner of AA Highway and Alexandria Pike at Cold Spring Pointe. Opening as part of a strip mall, the 48,387-square-foot store will bring jobs for approximately 140 associates.

• Triple Crown Boulevard and Richwood Road

Opening at the southeast corner of this intersection, the first store in Northern Kentucky will open sometime in 2025 in the Triple Crown Shopping Center. The 55,701-square-foot location will also include a Publix Liquors.

Another Boone County location is rumored to open in Florence, although Publix hasn't confirmed whether this is true. However, a senior zoning planner for the county said the supermarket received initial zoning approval to build a location along U.S. 42 Highway in Florence.

• 7655 Stadium Parkway

The new location on Stadium Parkway opened in Melbourne in April and features a special design.

Shoppers can look for groceries on the first floor or enjoy an eating area on the second floor, where there will be space for both indoor and outdoor seating.

This is the second store with this special design in the area and features a total of 48,000 square feet of space for shoppers to enjoy.

• 19050 Corkscrew Road

Developers broke ground on The Shoppes at Verdana Village nearly two years ago with a plan to have Publix anchor the new shopping center.

The new store is open, giving shoppers 48,000 square feet of space to pick up fresh food, family meals, and more.

The shopping development has a total of 78,000 square feet of space for retail shops as well as potential space for restaurants or medical offices.

• 81 Alafaya Woods Blvd.

Not all Publix stores are new locations: Some simply close for a small amount of time to get a refresh.

One of those stores is the Oviedo location. The store was temporarily closed to make some changes, but it has now reopened for guests to enjoy.

• 1720 Gulf Shores Parkway, Suite 2

The new Publix location in Gulf Shores is replacing one grocery chain for another.

The store was built after demolishing the Winn-Dixie building that was in the same location. The new store is now open and includes around 25,000 square feet of retail space.

• 10640 Forest Hill Blvd.

This location in Wellington recently welcomed new customers to its new space with almost 40,000 square feet of shopping for loyal customers to enjoy.

• 1220 E Palm Drive

Homestead also opened a new location with almost 40,000 square feet of space for shoppers. The store also includes a Publix Liquors next door.

The newest Homestead location is the fifth Publix in the city for residents to enjoy.

• 1940 Lakewood Ranch Blvd.

The Homestead location opened the same day as a new Publix store in Sarasota.

The Sarasota store is the bigger of the two locations, with more than 48,000 square feet of space. It also has a Publix Liquors for shoppers to pick up alcohol after grabbing food from the store.

In March, the retailer also opened new locations in Hampton, Georgia, and Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
