The history of Whataburger
Whataburger is a fast-food restaurant chain founded in Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1950. Founder Harmon Dobson made burgers so tasty that customers would exclaim, “What a burger!” after a single bite.
The burger’s popularity quickly took off. It has grown from a standalone hamburger stand into a popular chain of restaurants. Today, Whataburger has more than 1,000 locations in 15 states and is steadily expanding.
What is Whataburger famous for?
Whataburger is beloved for its burger size, taste, quality, and innovation. Dobson envisioned a burger so large it took two hands to hold.
From the start, the chain has served the same large patty on a 5-inch bun, using 100% pure, never-frozen ground beef. Restaurants are open 24 hours a day.
Whataburger is also known for its bold, mid-century design with American flair.
Bottom line
In a time when foods are getting awfully complicated, the classic 5-inch Whataburger offers a refreshing twist on back-to-basic eating.
If you need ways to stretch your fast food budget, consider visiting one of these cities. There might be a Whataburger coming near you soon.
