On Friday, June 7, several chain doughnut shops are offering customers a smattering of fried dough delicacies for absolutely free in honor of National Doughnut Day. 

Fun Fact: The Salvation Army actually started this "holiday" to honor the "Donut Lassies" who served American soldiers the European delicacy during World War I. 

So consider it your American duty to snag one of these freebies whilst out and about this Friday. After all, saving a few bucks always makes the treat or reward extra worth it. 

Duck Donuts began as a treat in the Outerbanks of North Carolina and has since expanded to over 100 locations across the nation. While the donuts are made to order, the freebie they are offering is a cinnamon sugar doughnut with absolutely no purchase necessary. 

Even non-doughnut spots are getting in on the sugary fun. Nationwide convenience store chain Casey's is offering reward members free doughnuts on Friday. From June 7 to June 16, reward members can also save on a half dozen doughnuts for just $4.99. 

Krispy Kreme is holding nothing back; customers can choose any doughnut for free (excluding limited-time doughnuts) with no purchase necessary. However, if you should purchase a dozen doughnuts, you can snag an Original Glazed doughnut for just $2. 

Get a free glazed doughnut with any purchase while supplies last. If you use their app, you have a chance to win one of the 12 prizes as a loyalty member. Just be sure to enter the code "DONUTDAY24" if you order online. 

If Americans really do run on Dunkin, they need to sprint over to their fave breakfast chain on June 7th. With the purchase of any beverage, Dunkin' is offering customers their choice of one free doughnut. 

Dapper Doughnuts must truly love their customers. Not only are they offering not one but six free cinnamon sugar or powdered donuts for free with any purchase, they are extending the sale until June 9. You'll be drowning in doughnuts come Monday!
