What is Sky Blue Credit Repair?
Sky Blue Credit is a credit repair company that has offered credit restoration services since 1989. The company helps consumers identify incorrect, outdated, and duplicate records in their credit history and then handles the dispute process from start to finish.
Who is Sky Blue Credit Repair best for?
Sky Blue Credit Repair might be worth considering if you have inaccurate negative marks on your credit report and you:
- Don't have the time to send out dispute and debt validation letters
- Can't figure out how to get errors removed from your credit report
- Would rather pay someone to clean up your credit report than do it yourself
- Have tried getting them removed on your own and been unsuccessful
Credit repair services are primarily designed for people with inaccurate derogatory marks or errors on their credit reports that are dragging down their credit scores. If negative marks on your credit report are accurate, however, no credit repair service will be able to get them removed.
You don't need to pay a credit repair service to get errors removed from your credit report. All of the services Sky Blue Credit Repair provides are things I do myself each year to ensure my credit stays error-free and in good standing. However, you might feel lost or like you don’t have time to tackle credit repair on your own. We recommend Sky Blue Credit Repair if you'd rather pay someone else to do this, especially because the company offers a money-back guarantee that isn’t very common in this industry. It’s also a standout option for couples, with discounted plans for two people.

Good to know
Sky Blue offers a condition-free guarantee. If you aren’t satisfied in the first 90 days, tell them why, and the company will refund your money. Unlike other credit repair companies, the Sky Blue 90-day guarantee isn’t voided by results or removed if your credit improves. Most industry guarantees are voided by the first deletion of an erroneous item from your credit report.Sky Blue Credit Repair features and services
Sky Blue Credit Repair offers several different packages, with more services included in higher-priced packages. All packages include credit score monitoring and credit report analysis, as well as dispute letters and credit-building guidance.
For people with more complicated assistance needs, Sky Blue Credit may also intervene with creditors and send debt validation letters and cease-and-desist letters on your behalf. Just note that plans that include these services cost more.
Credit analysis
Sky Blue Credit will do a line-by-line review of your credit report to find “areas of opportunity.” This may include records not in your name or duplicate accounts, like those being updated by both the original creditor and a debt collections agency now responsible for the debt.
You can also do credit analysis for yourself. Everyone is entitled to one free credit report each year from the three major credit bureaus (Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion), which you can get at AnnualCreditReport.com.
I check mine at least once every year for errors and recommend doing the same whether you decide to pay for credit repair or not.
Dispute assistance
With this service, the company will send dispute letters and re-dispute letters to the credit bureaus reporting the information in question. The service includes up to 15 disputes (five disputes per bureau) every 35 to 45 days. This is a pretty average timeframe, based on what we’ve seen with other companies, but some agencies might take up to 60 days.
Editor’s note
Sky Blue Credit Repair says it uses a 35-day dispute cycle on one part of its website and a 45-day cycle on another. It’s possible that the cycle varies or has been changed, but it’s unclear to us which, if either, is true. You can also dispute credit report errors for free on your own. Experts recommend disputing errors with the credit bureaus and sending dispute letters to the credit company involved. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) even provides sample dispute letters. You can expect credit reporting agencies to resolve disputes within 30 days, generally.
Credit score assistance
Sky Blue Credit will make other suggestions on how to improve your score besides disputing records. If you’re drowning in debt, for example, Sky Blue Credit may suggest ways to pay off or redistribute your debt to improve your credit score.
Again, with a little research, it's entirely possible to improve your credit or pay off debt on your own without paying for professional help. But we get that this can feel overwhelming without support.
Credit-building assistance
If the company determines you need to open new accounts to build credit, it will recommend products, such as secured credit cards, that may help (with responsible use, of course).
As someone who regularly advises people on how to build credit, I don't think you need to pay for this. It's easy to find information online about the best products to help you improve or establish credit, so this particular service isn’t worth the cost.
Debt validation letters
Sky Blue Credit will send debt validation letters requesting that creditors prove debts belong to you before you pay them. Again, you can also send these yourself with a little effort, so Sky Blue is only saving you time by doing this.
Goodwill letters
These are letters requesting the removal of negative records from your report as a courtesy. According to Sky Blue Credit, a goodwill letter typically works best if you missed a payment more than six months ago and have had a perfect payment history since.
Cease-and-desist letters
These are letters demanding that debt collectors stop contacting you. This may be an option if someone is trying to collect a debt that’s past the statute of limitations on debt in your state.
This is one of the only services with guaranteed results, but that’s not specific to Sky Blue. Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the CFPB’s Debt Collection Rule, debt collectors are legally required to stop contacting you after you ask them to, except to let you know they’re not going to bother you anymore or warn you about legal action.
Free consultations
If you're working on how to manage your money and need advice on creating a debt settlement strategy or handling debt in collections, Sky Blue Credit may be able to help you work out a plan.
Pro tip
If you want to take a break from using Sky Blue Credit, you can pause your membership in the online account portal instead of canceling it altogether. The online portal also comes with a progress chart that shows how many records have been corrected and provides tips for how to improve your credit score.Sky Blue Credit customer reviews
Sky Blue Credit has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and gets three out of five stars from customer reviews, of which there are only four.
Some reviewers reported success in removing negative records from their credit reports and improving their credit scores within one to two months. Other reviewers complained about seeing no changes to their credit and having trouble retrieving dispute letters after cancelling their subscription. These are common complaints for credit repair in general.
Customers have filed three complaints with the BBB in the past three years. One complaint is from a customer who claims they didn't see any changes or receive any updates over several months. Another was unsatisfied with the services provided and requested a refund, which appears to have been granted.
Sky Blue Credit also has a few complaints in the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau database related to fees and customer service.
How to contact customer service
Sky Blue Credit’s customer service department is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 a.m. ET. To contact a company representative, call 800-790-0445. Alternatively, use the message form on the company website, and someone will follow up with you via email or phone.
Alternatives to Sky Blue Credit
There are other ways to repair your credit, including doing it yourself and hiring a different service. Here are a few alternatives.
Do it yourself
All of Sky Blue Credit's services, from reviewing your credit report to sending dispute and debt validation letters to building your credit score, are things you can do on your own for free. If I needed to repair my credit, I would be tempted to use a credit repair service to save myself the time and headache, but I’m not sure I’d be able to justify Sky Blue’s prices in many cases.
It shouldn't take more than a day to pull your free credit report from AnnualCreditReport.com and dispute any errors you find. There are also plenty of low-cost or free credit monitoring services you can sign up for.
Credit counseling
If you're overwhelmed by debt, you might want to try credit counseling, which focuses more on helping you manage current financial burdens while credit repair is more focused on helping you clean up credit blemishes from past problems. Often found through non-profit organizations, credit counselors offer free and affordable credit report reviews, financial education, budgeting help, and debt management plans (DMPs).
Make sure any credit counselor you work with is certified by the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC).
Credit Saint
If you'd rather pay a credit repair service to fix your credit for you, it's worth looking into Credit Saint. While the monthly subscription fee is slightly higher than Sky Blue's, Credit Saint sends out custom dispute letters rather than the templatized letters most credit repair services use. Your creditors may be more responsive to these.
Like Sky Blue, Credit Saint offers a 90-day money-back guarantee. However, you only get a refund if Credit Saint hasn't removed any negative marks from your credit, which is a lot more restrictive.

The dispute service that Sky Blue Credit offers is something you can do on your own. Thanks to the Fair Credit Reporting Act, anyone has a right to dispute credit report errors with each credit reporting agency, and information that can’t be verified must be removed.
With that said, Sky Blue Credit has been reviewing reports and filing disputes over the past 30 years, so the company may be able to find areas of opportunity you’d miss. There’s also the matter of convenience. Sometimes, you just want to cross something off your to-do list, and Sky Blue Credit could remove the daunting task of credit restoration from your plate. Plus, the score and credit-building assistance may highlight other ways to clean up your report and credit.
Ultimately, the money-back guarantee is where this service shines because it makes signing up risk-free. You can join to see what the company has to offer and get a refund within the first 90 days if it’s not a good fit.
