Barnes & Noble Is Opening These 58 Stores in 2024

Barnes and Noble has seen some success this year with the opening of new locations across the country.

The book retailer opened 32 locations by mid-August this year, and 26 more are set to open before the end of the year.

• Jonesboro

The new Barnes and Noble store manager in Jonesboro reported that more than 170 customers were waiting for the store to open its door for its first day of business back in February.

• Tucson

The new Barnes and Noble location in Tucson is expected to open at the end of September. It will be the third Barnes and Noble location in the city.

• Brentwood
• Redding
• Santa Monica
• Visalia

The new Santa Monica location opened on the city’s famous Third Street Promenade in August. Author Olivia Blake was there to cut the ribbon and sign books for customers who visited the new store.

• Meriden

Barnes and Noble opened its new location in Meriden in March with its store located in the Townline Square Annex.

• Georgetown

The new Barnes and Noble in Georgetown is actually returning to the same building it left more than a decade ago. The three-story store is expected to open in October.

• Rehoboth Beach

Head to the seashore and grab a book at the new Rehoboth Beach location, which is taking over a former Brooks Brothers store at Tanger Outlets Seaside.

• Gainesville
• Panama City Beach
• Sawgrass
• Waterford Lakes

The new Gainesville Barnes and Noble location opened in March next to Trader Joe’s, making it the perfect spot to pick up books and shop for groceries at the same time.

• Dawsonville

One store closed in Georgia, and another store opened. The Dawsonville Barnes and Noble location was only a week after the state lost a Barnes and Noble spot in Morrow.

• Dubuque

Iowa made the top five list of states with the highest love for reading, according to a study by website Typing.com. The study took into account things like the number of libraries and bookstores per capita by state.

• Clark and Diversey, Chicago
• Northbrook
• Oswego
• Wicker Park, Chicago

Chicago is getting two new Barnes and Noble locations, including the new spot in Wicker Park, which is expected to open in October.

The new store will be located in an iconic building in the neighborhood previously occupied by a bank and Walgreens.

• Schererville

The new location, which will open later this year in Schererville, is part of a development with retailers Victoria’s Secret and Buckle. The new retail space is being converted from a Bed Bath & Beyond that closed last year.

• Wichita

The new Barnes and Noble spot at New Market Square in Wichita is expected to open its doors to customers in November.

• Lexington

Barnes and Noble opened a new location in Lexington’s Fayette Mall in August.

• Denham Springs
• New Orleans

The location in Elmwood Shopping Center in New Orleans opened in April and included Walter Isaacson signing copies of his book about Elon Musk.

• South Portland

Like other new Barnes and Noble locations, this spot in South Portland took over a former Bed Bath & Beyond store that shut down.

• Lake Orion
• Rochester Hills

The two new locations in the Detroit metro area opened this summer, with Rochester Hills welcoming customers in June and Lake Onion holding its grand opening less than a month later.

• Flowood

The Barnes and Noble store opened in Flowood in July, with author Phyllis R. Dixon celebrating the grand opening by cutting the ribbon for the new store and signing copies of her books for customers.

• St. Louis

The new Barnes and Noble location in the St. Louis Galleria is expected to open on Oct. 23 so that customers can find books.

• Kalispell

Kalispell welcomed its new Barnes and Noble at the end of January. Author Katie Powner was on hand to cut the ribbon for the new store and sign copies of her books.

• Concord Mills
• Mooresville

The Mooresville opening of Barnes and Noble in May featured author Megan Miranda. The mystery author signed copies of her books for customers who came to check out the new store.

• Las Vegas

The new Las Vegas location opened on Sept. 4 on Las Vegas Boulevard just south of the city’s airport and famous “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign, making it easy to visit and spend your gambling winnings on books.

• Seabrook

Barnes and Noble's new location at Seabrook Commons is expected to open later this year, and customers will be welcomed beginning in November.

• Eatontown
• Ledgewood

The Eatontown location will be moving from its current Barnes and Noble location in Monmouth Mall to a new retail spot as part of a redevelopment project for the shopping area.

• Santa Fe

Barnes and Noble recently opened a new store in Santa Fe, which welcomed customers in August. The new location is taking over a space formerly occupied by Bed Bath & Beyond.

• Destiny
• Huntington
• Mt. Kisco
• Victor
• Cheektowaga

The Cheektowaga location will be in the Walden Galleria and is expected to open in October for shoppers to wander through the new Barnes and Noble bookshelves.

• Doylestown
• Lehigh Valley

The Lehigh Valley location was more of a reopening rather than a new opening, with the store welcoming customers back after an almost year-long renovation.

• Columbia

Columbia’s Shoppes at Woodhill welcomed a new Barnes and Noble to its lineup in March. The shopping area also includes Target, Party City, and World Market.

• Franklin

Since its opening on Sept. 4, the new Barnes and Noble in Franklin has occupied a space at the Cool Springs Galleria.

• Allen
• Conroe
• Selma
• Houston

The Wesleyan Plaza location in Houston opened its doors to Barnes and Noble customers in July. Author Katherine Center was on hand to cut the ribbon to open the store and sign copies of her books.

• American Fork
• Murray
• Park City
• Sandy

The new Barnes and Noble space at the Commons at Southtowne in Sandy was previously occupied by Bed Bath & Beyond before it opened its doors as a bookstore on May 29.

• Manassas

The new Barnes and Noble in Manassas is expected to open its doors to new customers on Oct. 16.

• Issaquah

Barnes and Noble plans to open its new location in Issaquah later this year. The opening will mark the book retailer's return to the area after it closed a bookstore there in 2020 after 25 years in business.
