If you have a 700+ credit score, the Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card is a strong option if you want to carry only one card to use for all your eligible purchases. I like the simplicity of this card — the rewards aren’t flashy, but they are valuable, and there’s no guesswork involved in whether your spending fits a rewards category or not.

It’s truly simple to earn cash back with the Wells Fargo Active Cash. No keeping track of rotating rewards, and redemption of rewards is pretty simple as well. Some of us don’t want to do the legwork of figuring out how to maximize rewards, as is common with some other rewards programs, and this card lets you simply earn the same rate on everything and redeem the value for statement credits, purchases, or gift cards.

Pros
  • $0 annual fee
  • Simple rewards rate
  • Intro APR offers on purchases and qualifying balance transfers
Cons
  • No bonus categories
  • 3% foreign transaction fees

Citi Double Cash® Card

Card details:

Welcome offer: Earn $200 cash back after you spend $1,500 on purchases in the first 6 months of account opening. This bonus offer will be fulfilled as 20,000 ThankYou® Points, which can be redeemed for $200 cash back.

Rewards rate: Earn 2% on every purchase with unlimited 1% cash back when you buy, plus an additional 1% as you pay for those purchases; plus, a special travel offer, earn 5% total cash back on hotel, car rentals and attractions booked on the Citi Travel℠ portal through 12/31/25.

Intro APR offer: 0% intro APR for 18 months on balance transfers (then 18.49% - 28.49% (Variable))

Other benefits:

  • 5% on hotel, car rentals and attractions booked on the Citi Travel℠ portal through 12/31/25
  • Citi Entertainment: special access to events such as concerts, sporting events, and art/cultural experiences

Another option is the Citi Double Cash® Card, which makes sense as an everyday cash back and balance transfer card. It’s structured a bit differently with 2% on every purchase with unlimited 1% cash back when you buy, plus an additional 1% as you pay for those purchases; plus, a special travel offer, earn 5% total cash back on hotel, car rentals and attractions booked on the Citi Travel℠ portal through 12/31/25.

I like the flat rate on rewards for this card, and it does encourage you to pay back your credit card balance promptly, since that’s how you earn the second half of your rewards on the Citi Double Cash Card.

Cons
  • 3% foreign transaction fees

For someone who wants to earn higher rewards rates on everyday purchases, you may be eligible for the Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express. I should mention that 700 is closer to the minimum credit score you need to qualify for this card, so you may want to wait until your credit is higher, more in the range of 750-800.

The Blue Cash Everyday offers elevated rewards on top everyday categories: 3% cash back at U.S. supermarkets, U.S. gas stations, and U.S. online retail purchases (up to $6,000 per year on purchases in each category, then 1%); and 1% cash back on other eligible purchases. That rate is capped, but for many people the higher rewards will be worth it.

How to choose credit cards for a 700 credit score

Remember that your credit score isn’t the only thing card issuers consider, but a 700 credit score should boost your eligibility for most credit cards. You might look at some of the best credit cards for good credit for ideas, since 670 puts you in the “Good” range of the FICO scoring model.

Certain cards are more likely to approve you if your credit is at 800 or above, though, so if you’re not quite there, the cards included here might fit the bill.

Rewards and earning potential

The first thing I look for when evaluating credit cards is: how do I earn and redeem rewards? You’ll typically earn points, miles, or cash back on your purchases, and you can also get a lot of value from a welcome bonus, as the cards in this roundup offer.

Consider whether you want to earn a flat rate on rewards, such as 2% on all purchases, or if you’d like a higher earning rate on specific purchases (such as travel or groceries). Choosing great cash rewards credit cards can simply pay you back for your purchases.

In theory, you might be able to earn more overall with a card that rewards specific categories, but if keeping track of multiple rewards cards sounds too daunting, it’s perfectly fine to choose a card with a simple rewards structure, perhaps the same rate on every purchase.

The first three cards included above are more suited for everyday purchases and have simpler rewards structures, while the last three are travel-centric and their rewards programs are robust, but somewhat more complex.

Perks and benefits

Credit cards can have different benefits because of different card issuers. You might be seeking travel benefits like travel insurance or airport lounge access. Or perhaps you’re hoping to find cell phone protection or a longer extended warranty on purchases with your card.

Another perk to check for is whether the card has an introductory 0% APR period on either purchases or balance transfers. If you have an upcoming large purchase or some past debt you need to take care of, choosing one of these cards with a 0% introductory APR can help you save money.

Card fees

It’s important to consider fees on any new credit card. Some important fees to compare between different cards include:

  • Annual fees: These are card membership fees you pay each year to be a cardholder. Cards with annual fees tend to have more benefits, but many no-annual-fee credit cards also provide plenty of value.
  • Foreign transaction fees: These are fees you pay for making foreign purchases. If you like to travel internationally, it’s best to find a card without foreign transaction fees.

FAQs

Can you get approved for anything with a 700 credit score?

A 700 credit score is a good credit score, but it’s not high enough for you to qualify for new credit cards that require an excellent score of around 800 or more.

However, you can set a personal finance goal to continue building credit at any age and maintain positive credit habits. Responsible credit usage factors such as having low credit utilization and an on-time payment history will gradually raise your score.

Being mindful of your credit balances and avoiding late payments should reflect well on your credit report with the three major credit bureaus — Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion. And you can qualify for many excellent credit cards with a 700 credit score.

Is a 700 credit score very good?

A 700 credit score is good, while a 740 credit score is “very good”, according to the FICO credit score range. An 800 score or higher is considered excellent. A 700 credit score won’t get you in the door for all credit cards, but it’s often sufficient to qualify for many different types of cards, including some of the best travel credit cards.

How do I know if I have a good credit score?

If you have at least a 670 FICO score, you have a good credit score. However, scores can go up to 850, so there’s quite a bit more room for improvement. It’s a good idea to check your credit score for free through Chase Credit Journey, on myFICO.com, and through Capital One’s CreditWise.

Bottom line

We’ve included three excellent credit cards for a 700 credit score and earning on everyday purchases. The Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card is one of our top choices because it’s easy to use and has a $0 annual fee.

However, if you prefer earning travel rewards and don’t mind an annual fee, consider the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Capital One Venture Rewards as options with great rewards potential.
