Clickworker Review [2025]: Is it Worth a Click?

Clickworker is convenient, but like most microtask platforms, the pay leaves a lot to be desired.

OUR VIEW

Clickworker is a microtask platform. That means that the website breaks larger jobs into smaller tasks that pay anywhere from a few cents to a dollar or two. The nice thing about microtask work is that you can work from home on your schedule. The drawback is the pay, and Clickworker is no exception.

Clickworker stands out with the variety of tasks available on its platform. In addition to the types of jobs you typically find on these platforms (like evaluating search results), it also sometimes has mystery shopping opportunities and tasks that require video recordings or photographs.

In my experience, in the few hours I spent signing up for and testing the platform, I made $3.71. Once someone is fully up to speed on the different tasks available, I think you could make about $6 to $7 per hour, potentially a bit more if you’re very fast and accurate. But that is definitely low, even if you can work from home.

What is Clickworker?

Like other microtask platforms, Clickworker connects freelancers with companies that have tasks that need to be completed. In particular, Clickworker promotes its ability to provide companies with AI training data.

For freelancers on the platform, Clickworker offers AI training tasks, survey opportunities, mystery shopping tasks, internet research tasks, and more. It’s important to remember that you aren’t employed by Clickworker directly — you are a contractor and completing work for Clickworker’s partners through either the Clickworker platform or its partners’ websites.

Who should use Clickworker?

Clickworker could be a good fit for someone with an erratic schedule looking to make a part-time income. For example, a student who wants to earn money on a flexible schedule, someone who already has a full-time job and wants to supplement that income, or a parent who has limited time could be a good fit.

You don’t need any particular skill set to join Clickworker beyond the ability to use a web browser or phone app and read directions. But check that Clickworker is accepting freelancers from your country. Some specific jobs may require you to speak and read English or have other specific requirements. In those cases, there will be an assessment before you qualify for those particular tasks.

You should steer clear of Clickworker if your primary focus is maximizing income, as you’re unlikely to make a lot of money doing this work. You could make more doing something like babysitting or pet-sitting or by doing freelance work like writing.

My Clickworker experience

Signing up with Clickworker is pretty straightforward. I started with the website, but you can sign up on the Clickworker app as well. I entered my info, including my name, country, native language (you can indicate if you speak other languages as well), gender, and date of birth. You do need to provide your real name and information — Clickworker will shut down all accounts it believes are fake.

UHRS

Once my profile was set up, I was ready for available jobs. I originally signed up for the site in July 2024, and I was able to earn my first $3 by completing an assessment for Clickworker’s primary partner, Universal Human Relevance System (UHRS). UHRS is the biggest draw for Clickworker, in my opinion, because it has the most interesting work — training AI. It didn’t take long to complete the main assessment, but when I revisited the site in December 2024, I realized I also needed to complete Clickworker’s native English speaker assessment to qualify for UHRS tasks, and that was more of a challenge.

Essentially, I needed to record a 30-second video in the Clickworker app answering a question. Sounds easy, right? My first try was rejected because the video was “fuzzy.” Unfortunately, that was how the app recorded it, not an issue with how I filmed it. I was able to try again and get accepted, but submitting my videos and waiting for review took a solid 24 hours.

Once that was done, I could explore UHRS. While the tasks are proprietary and I can’t go into detail, in general, you’re judging the accuracy of what AI produces and sometimes giving feedback as to why you made the decisions you did.

The pay for individual tasks is low: $0.03 to $0.10 per task in general with each task estimated to take from 30 seconds to a couple of minutes. So, you need to complete a high volume to make much. At $0.03 per task, you would need to do 33 tasks to earn $1, and 333 tasks to earn $10.

These tasks were fairly complicated with extensive directions, so this isn’t mindless work that you can half pay attention to. You need to really put an effort in to earn money with UHRS tasks.

Other tasks

The good news is that those aren’t the only tasks on the Clickworker platform.

There are other similar tasks available, like searching for something specific in Google and taking a screenshot. Be sure to read the directions for these tasks — I had one get rejected because I didn’t include the website address in the screenshot. So that’s $0.10 I’ll never see.

There were also tasks requiring you to sign on to an authentication app, but I didn’t complete these as I didn’t want to give away my personal data.

Clickworker also partners with several survey apps. When you click on one of the partners, you’re taken to a partner site to complete another profile. Once you do that, you can attempt to complete a survey. I say attempt because, like most survey sites, you may not qualify for the full pay if you’re not part of the target demographic.

I was lucky enough to qualify for a survey, so I made $0.69 for about 15 minutes worth of work.

Clickworker also has other tasks like mystery shopping and recording video and audio. I didn’t give any of those tasks a try, but if you’re interested in the platform, they’re worth checking out as they typically pay the most.

How much can you earn on Clickworker?

I earned $3.71 over a few hours on the platform. In fairness, getting started is a slow process of completing assessments and profiles, reading directions, and learning how to do tasks. Someone who is fully up and running could likely make more, but given that some tasks pay as little as $0.03, you’d need to complete a high volume each hour to earn more than a few dollars.

Cashing out on Clickworker

The first complication with cashing out on Clickworker is the delay — any work you do for UHRS will take a whopping 39 days to be paid out. So don’t count on Clickworker for immediate cash. Clickworker pays out funds through PayPal, Payoneer, SEPA in the European Union (EU), ACH transfers to your bank account in the U.S., and direct bank transfers for some non-EU countries. Payment options vary depending on where you live.

For me, the only option I have for payouts is ACH transfers, and that has a $10 minimum. So I would need to spend at least a few more hours to earn enough to cash out. In looking at app reviews, a few users seem to have had trouble with withdrawing funds, but that’s a few out of thousands of reviews. Based on my experience with Clickworker, I’m confident my funds would be paid out once I reach the threshold.

How to maximize your earnings on Clickworker

So, how do you make the most of your Clickworker experience?

  • Anticipate the learning curve. Make peace with the fact that your initial earnings will be low while you complete assessments and learn how to do tasks.
  • Focus on a few types of tasks and dive into those. Obviously, this depends on what’s available, but I would target the types of tasks you would enjoy the most and familiarize yourself with those. That way, you’ll know the directions and can move through them quickly (but accurately). Speed is key when you’re doing microtasks.
  • Leave your house. While I, of all people, understand the urge to stay inside, the best-paying tasks involve mystery shopping and taking videos and photos outside. If you can, look for those tasks and focus on them.

FAQs

Is Clickworker legit and safe?

I felt Clickworker was legit and safe. Of course, there’s always a risk in sharing your personal information, but Clickworker is reputable and has a 24/7 support desk that actually responds. I know because I had to contact the help desk when I was locked out of UHRS tasks since I hadn’t logged into the site in a few months.

Should I give Clickworker my Social Security number?

If you’re in the U.S., you’re required to provide a Social Security number (SSN) or an Employer Identification Number (EIN) to get paid. Since you’re a contractor for Clickworker and self-employed, I would consider applying for an EIN (it’s free) and using that in place of your SSN on Clickworker.

Can you actually make money from Clickworker?

You can make money from Clickworker. I wouldn’t rely on it for a full-time income, but it’s a flexible way to earn a modest side income. Unlike a lot of flexible options, though, the pay isn’t immediate, so keep that in mind as you consider your options.

What is the average pay on Clickworker?

It’s difficult to say what the average earnings are for someone using the Clickworker platform. I think $6 to $7 per hour is a reasonable expectation, potentially more if you’re very fast or qualify for and complete higher-paying tasks. It also could be lower as you’re learning a new type of task.

Alternatives to Clickworker

Amazon Mechanical Turk

If you like the idea of a microtask platform, Amazon Mechanical Turk (MTurk) is a good alternative. Its tasks are similar to some of the tasks on Clickworker, but it focuses exclusively on tasks that can be done on the computer, including captioning and transcription. It doesn’t include the mystery shopping tasks or links to survey sites like Clickworker does.

InboxDollars

If you like the survey-taking aspect of Clickworker, InboxDollars is a good alternative. It offers more than just surveys, too, which is another thing I like about the platform. You can also earn money by playing games, using the InboxDollars search engine, and other activities.

It offers a $5 bonus for signing up (more than I have to withdraw from Clickworker at the moment). Otherwise, the earnings are comparable to Clickworker — it’s more about what type of activities you enjoy. InboxDollars offers more lowkey activities while Clickworker’s tasks can demand a significant amount of focus for a similar amount of money.

Freecash

Honestly, Freecash is similar to InboxDollars. It has more of an emphasis on games, though, and that’s the primary way to earn money, especially as a new user to the platform. Essentially, you download a game through Freecash, meet required milestones like playing to a certain level, earn the money associated with that milestone, then try another game and do the same thing.

Freecash is best if you like games and you like playing a variety of them rather than really mastering one before you move on.

Bottom line

If you need flexible work with a low barrier to entry, Clickworker could be a good fit. Don’t count on it for instant income or for a high income, but it could be enough to supplement other income sources or fit around a demanding or erratic schedule. I’d also consider alternatives, though. There’s no reason you can’t try all of them and see what works best for you.
