Mistplay is an app that pays you to play games. The Mistplay app is available for Android, and it has a 4.5 out of 5 rating on the Google Play Store with more than 929,000 reviews. Mistplay is a good choice if you want to play games for money, especially if you'd prefer to get rewarded for your time or progress without pay-to-play competitions. It has a large game selection, relatively high payouts, and a good reputation.
However, many other money-making game apps have similar features, and it could be possible to earn more if you spread your time across different apps. Mistplay also isn't available for iPhones, but there are good alternatives if you have an iOS device.
Some play-to-earn apps, like Cash Giraffe, Cash'Em All, and Rewarded Play, closely resemble Mistplay and offer various games as ways to earn money. Others, like Freecash, Scrambly, and Swagbucks, also offer games but also provide surveys, app downloads, and other tasks.
These apps can be good alternatives to Mistplay or great options to use alongside it.

- Ratings: Cash Giraffe has a 4.5 out of 5-star Google Play rating with over 520,000 reviews, and a 4.6 out of 5-star rating on the App Store.

How Cash Giraffe is similar to Mistplay
Cash Giraffe is one of the best apps that pays you to play games if you're not looking to be serious about how you earn. Like Mistplay, it pays you to install and try out games you've never tried before, and you can cash out once you've earned enough gems (like Mistplay's units). Both let you redeem your earnings via PayPal and gift cards.
How Cash Giraffe is different from Mistplay
Cash Giraffe's rewards system is a little less complicated, and there aren't as many games to choose from, making it better for casual players looking to earn money.
Cash Giraffe doesn't offer the same game variety or payout potential as Mistplay, but it's a good Mistplay alternative or supplement. With Mistplay, you have to pay close attention to boosts and multipliers, and it can be tricky to keep track of units, points, and gems. Mistplay also enforces a two-hour daily earning limit for each game, while Cash Giraffe does not. Plus, Cash Giraffe stands out for offering an iOS app and letting you cash out via PayPal with less than $1.
After downloading the Cash Giraffe app, I received a list of games to download through the Google Play Store. The app also offers surveys, though these aren't the best way to earn.
Users can exchange points for gift cards or cash out via PayPal once they reach the minimum amount of 4,999 coins, or $0.50 if you redeem via PayPal. Like Cash'Em All, you can also exchange points for merchant discounts.
Try Cash Giraffe instead of Mistplay if: You're an Apple user looking for an iOS app and/or looking to play a little more casually with a less complicated payout system. Cash Giraffe would also be a good alternative if you want the option to invest more than a couple of hours into a game in a day.
- Cash Giraffe is easy to download and use.
- You can redeem points for gift cards, merchant discounts, or PayPal.
- You can receive your PayPal cashout in as little as two days.
- Cash Giraffe's games may require in-app purchases to reach higher levels.
- It may take a long time to earn enough to cash out of Cash Giraffe.
- Limited games compared to other apps.

Freecash
- Apps and access: Freecash is available on the web, as an Android App, and as an iOS app. Users can also access the site from a web browser via Freecash.com.
- How to make money: Freecash has multiple ways to earn and offers games, surveys, and other tasks.
- Ratings: It earned 4.4 out of 5 stars on the Google Play store with over 240,000 reviews, and 4.7 stars on the App Store with over 3,000 reviews.
- How to cash out: PayPal, gift cards, Stake.us (US only), Stake.com (international)
Freecash vs. Mistplay
| Freecash | Mistplay | |
| App ratings | 4.4/5 stars on Google Play 4.7/5 stars on Apple App Store |
4.5/5 stars on Google Play 4.5/5 stars on Apple App Store |

How Freecash is similar to Mistplay
Freecash is another rewards platform that shares some features in common with Mistplay. You can get paid to download and play mobile games, and cash out your earnings (called coins) via PayPal or gift cards. The Freecash receives similar app ratings as Mistplay but has a much larger user base. While Mistplay claims to have over two million active users, Freecash claims to have over 50 million.
How Freecash is different from Mistplay
Freecash offers more ways to earn money than Mistplay, including downloading games, taking surveys, watching ads, downloading apps through the platform, and completing other tasks. Freecash also offers more ways to redeem your earnings, with bank transfers and crypto payouts among the withdrawal options Mistplay doesn't offer. I like that Freecash will cash out directly to your bank account, which isn't that common.
Freecash offers a $5 bonus for signing up and downloading your first game. However, you cannot withdraw the bonus until you earn $20, and Freecash charges a 5% processing fee on all withdrawals via PayPal or bank transfer.
Try Freecash instead of Mistplay if: You want a wider variety of offers to choose from, not just the option to play games for money, and more ways to get paid.
- There are multiple ways to earn money on Freecash.
- You can cash out in multiple ways, including PayPal and bank transfers.
- It offers a $5 bonus to new users.
- Freecash places some players in Lite mode, which limits how much they earn.
- You must earn at least $20 to cash out the $5 bonus.
- There is a 5% processing fee to withdraw money via PayPal or bank transfer.

Cash'Em All
- Apps and access: Cash'Em All is free but only available as an Android app.
- How to earn money: Users earn coins by playing games and cashing out via PayPal, gift cards, or discounts.
- Ratings: Cash'Em All has a 4.5 out of 5-star rating on the Google Play store and more than 1.4 million reviews.
- How to cash out: PayPal, gift cards, merchant discounts
Cash'Em All vs. Mistplay

| App ratings | 4.5/5 stars on Google Play | 4.5/5 stars on Google Play 4.5/5 stars on Apple App Store |

How Cash'Em All is similar to Mistplay
Like Mistplay, Cash'Em All is an Android-only, free rewards app that rewards users for playing games but also offers limited surveys. After downloading each game, you earn coins based on your playtime. When you're ready to redeem your earnings, you can redeem via PayPal or gift cards.
How Cash'Em All is different from Mistplay
In addition to cashing out via PayPal transfer or a store gift card, Cash'Em All allows users to cash out for a store discount. For example, you can take up to 74% off selected electronics at Amazon for 4,899 coins. This is unusual for gaming apps and good for players who frequently shop online. Compared to Mistplay, Cash'Em All offers fewer game options and potentially lower payouts, but you might prefer it if you would feel overwhelmed by Mistplay's fairly complex rewards system.
Although you can make money playing games through Cash'Em All, you must set realistic expectations. Cash'Em All offers retailer discounts for only around 5,000 coins, but you'll need significantly more if you want to cash out via PayPal. A $5 PayPal cashout costs 47,065 coins on Cash'Em All, compared to just 1,800 units on Mistplay.
Try Cash'Em All instead of Mistplay if: You're new to gaming rewards apps and looking for simple offers, not necessarily the most games or highest earnings. We'd also recommend Cash'Em All over Mistplay if you want to cash out more quickly, as Cash'Em All has a withdrawal minimum of just $1.
- Cash'Em All is free to sign up and easy to cash out.
- It has a good selection of games
- There are no ads or in-app purchases on Cash'Em All.
- You'll need to use Cash'Em All for a long time before cashing out large amounts.
- Cash'Em All only pays a few coins for surveys compared to several hundred for games.
- You have to download and play multiple games to maximize your earnings.

Scrambly
- Apps and access: Scrambly is available on desktop and Google Play.
- How to make money: Users can earn money in various ways, including playing games, signing up for services, and taking surveys.
- Ratings: Scrambly earned 4.4 out of 5 stars on Google Play with more than 70,000 reviews.
- How to cash out: PayPal, gift cards, Google Play, Apple
Scrambly vs. Mistplay
| Scrambly | Mistplay | |
| App ratings | 4.4/5 stars on Google Play | 4.5/5 stars on Google Play 4.5/5 stars on Apple App Store |
| Device availability | Android app, browser | Android app |
How Scrambly is similar to Mistplay
Scrambly is similar to Mistplay in that it's a get-paid-to platform primarily focused on game testing, but it differs from Mistplay in that it has a much smaller user base and slightly lower payout potential for different activities. Like Mistplay, Scrambly doesn't offer an iOS app.
How Scrambly is different from Mistplay
I like that Scrambly offers a variety of activities you can get paid to do, such as taking surveys, signing up for subscriptions, and testing apps. It also has a lower payout threshold of $1, so you can cash out sooner than you could with Mistplay (which requires a minimum of $5). Scrambly emphasizes achieving quick milestones in each app you test, while Mistplay is time-based and designed to get you to play each app for a little longer. Scrambly also offers an affiliate program, where you can earn 10,000 coins when someone you invite makes their first withdrawal.
However, you can access Scrambly via a web browser on any device, making it similar to Freecash. You can use Scrambly if you're at least 16 years old, so this could be a better option for younger teens (although you won't have access to every reward opportunity at this age).
Try Scrambly instead of Mistplay if: You're between 16 and 18 and ready to try a gaming rewards app.
- Scrambly offers an affiliate program.
- It has a low withdrawal minimum of $1.
- You can redeem your earnings through PayPal, bank transfer, or gift cards.
- There is no IOS app. It's only available on Google Play or through your web browser.
- Some activities have a low earning potential.

- How to cash out: PayPal, gift cards

How Swagbucks is similar to Mistplay
Swagbucks is a rewards platform with many games to download and play on your phone, but it's best known for online shopping and surveys. It's another one of my favorite ways to make money online. Like Mistplay, you can trade your points, called Swagbucks, for gift cards or receive your winnings via PayPal.
How Swagbucks is different from Mistplay
After signing up with Swagbucks, you can take surveys, participate in daily polls and trivia games, shop through the Swagbucks portal, earn cash back and special offers, and download and play online games. For a platform of its kind, Swagbucks is a powerhouse in the offer variety department.
The amount you earn varies depending on the task you complete. 100 Swagbucks generally equals $1. You need at least $25 (2,500 Swagbucks) to cash out of PayPal, but gift cards typically start at $3 (300 Swagbucks). Mistplay's gift cards generally start at $5 or $10, depending on the store.
While Swagbucks doesn't have as many game options as Mistplay, its payout threshold is lower for gift cards, giving you more ways to earn. Receiving your PayPal transaction or gift card can take up to 10 business days.
Try Swagbucks instead of Mistplay if: You want to get paid to shop and/or take surveys.
- Swagbucks offers multiple ways to make money compared to other get-paid-to-play apps.
- You can earn money for things you already do, especially if you like to shop online.
- Swagbucks is free to sign up for and use.
- You need to earn $25 before cashing out with PayPal.
- It can take up to 10 days to receive your rewards.
- It can take up to 32 days for Swagbucks to appear after you complete an offer.

- How to make money: Playing games.
- Ratings: It earned 4.2 out of 5 stars on the Google Play Store with over 240,000 reviews.
- How to cash out: Rewarded Play only offers gift cards as rewards.

How Rewarded Play is similar to Mistplay
Rewarded Play is another game app for making money, and it's only available for Android devices, like Mistplay. It offers limited game options and rewards store gift cards. I like it because it provides a few survey options as well as the option to make money watching ads, and it awards new users a $5 gift card for completing three tasks within the first two days of downloading.
How Rewarded Play is different from Mistplay
Rewarded Play differs from Mistplay in its emphasis on gift cards and making enough to get paid quickly. I downloaded three games, played each for various amounts of time, and used the app twice in two days. That earned me the $5 bonus, and I could select a gift card immediately or book the equivalent points (about 45,000) for future use.
Rewarded Play has the largest gift card selection I've seen in an app, making it a good choice for users who prefer gift cards over cash.
I do not like that some Rewarded Play games require you to watch ads before progressing. It's worth using Rewarded Play for the $5 bonus, especially if you also use Mistplay. However, it won't be the first app I open when I feel like playing a game.
Try Rewarded Play instead of Mistplay if: You want to get paid in gift cards, and quickly.
- It offers new users a $5 gift card for completing three tasks.
- Rewarded Play has a large selection of gift cards, especially compared to other apps.
- Gift cards arrive within 48 hours.
- Payouts are only available via store gift cards.
- Rewarded Play's game selection is limited.
- You have to download and play multiple games to earn in Rewarded Play.

Apps that didn't make the list
Here's another app like Mistplay that we didn't include in our top six.
Justplay
Justplay, developed by JustPlay GmbH, is often compared to Mistplay, and for good reason. The platform lets you earn real money by playing games, like all the others on this list. It has over 10 million downloads on Google Play with a rating of 4.4 on more than one million reviews. Having not yet tried Justplay ourselves, we can't speak much to the experience of using it to make money playing games, but we found in our research that people who have tried both say Justplay offers much less game variety than Mistplay.
Tips to choose an app like Mistplay
- Compare offer availability: Mistplay is known for providing a wide variety of game offers, and little else. Many rewards platforms may offer more games to choose from, like Cash Giraffe, and some offer far more ways to earn money, including by taking paid surveys, watching ads, and more. For greater offer variety, look to Freecash or Swagbucks.
- Consider payout options: You can cash out with Mistplay via gift cards or PayPal. These are pretty common payout options for rewards apps like Mistplay, so it won't be hard to find apps that offer at least one of these. But if you need more options, like bank transfers, or faster payouts, start your search there.
- Look into device availability: Mistplay only offers an Android app. If that's not a problem for you, you'll have plenty of options, including all of the Mistplay app alternatives on this list. If you need an iOS app or browser availability, look into Cash Giraffe, Freecash, Scrambly, or Swagbucks.
- Pay attention to reviews: Mistplay gets largely positive customer reviews, so any app you're considering using alongside or instead of it should receive similarly high ratings.
More lucrative side hustle options
Of course, playing games online isn't the only way to make money. Some of the best side hustles include working on sites like TaskRabbit and Fiverr.
TaskRabbit is an online marketplace that connects skilled taskers with customers looking for help with yard work, moving, painting, TV mounting, and furniture assembly, among other tasks. It charges a $25 registration fee but allows you to set your schedule and rates.
Fiverr is a job board connecting freelancers with clients. It offers postings in various areas, including programming and tech, AI services, writing, video, and marketing. You can create a free profile and browse for projects that match your skills while choosing your rates. However, Fiverr takes a 20% cut of whatever you make.
While both TaskRabbit and Fiverr are more involved than playing games on your phone, you'll likely earn more using these sites than Mistplay or one of its competitors. You also have the opportunity to create a lasting side hustle that supports you for years.

FAQs
Can I earn money by playing games?
Yes, many apps let you earn money playing games, but you must be strategic.
Pick an app with games you are interested in and that will pay you for the time you invest in the game. It often makes sense to download multiple games or more than one platform to earn more. Look for an app with reasonable payout methods and fees, and read app store reviews to help you avoid scams.
What is the best app for free money?
Many apps can help you earn money, but you should be cautious of apps that promise free money. Many apps will provide a bonus for joining or using their apps. However, an app that promises to pay you for doing nothing is likely a scam, and you should steer clear. Thoroughly research any opportunities before you provide your personal information.
Is Rewarded Play better than Mistplay?
Rewarded Play and Mistplay are legitimate apps that pay users to use their platforms. Rewarded Play has a better gift card selection than Mistplay, but Mistplay offers cash redemption via PayPal and a bigger game selection. As you research apps, pay attention to details like payout methods, the time it takes to receive your money, and minimum withdrawal requirements.
Bottom line
In our experience with Mistplay, we found that the app offers a fun way to make money playing games and completing other tasks. But Mistplay might not be your first choice for a game app, or you could be looking for another option like it to increase your earning potential with a wider selection of games and offers. There's no reason you can't, or shouldn't, use more than one.
Consider adding one or more of the above money-making game apps to your phone for more earning opportunities. While you won't earn enough to pay your bills, using these apps strategically can help you make enough for a special treat or to boost your holiday budget.
Thoroughly research any platforms you consider before you sign up. Read reviews on the app stores and our in-depth product reviews to help you avoid scams and find a legit paid gaming app.
