After closing several locations in 2023, Hardee’s will again shutter the doors of more restaurants in 2024.
When a Hardee’s near you closes, it can help you keep more cash in your wallet, since you have one less place to spend it. But if you love Hardee’s, that is a small consolation.

Tennessee
A Hardee’s location in Spring Hill — south of Nashville — closed at the end of January.
The Spring Hill location at 4907 Main St. opened in 2015 before being shut down less than a decade later.
CKE Restaurant Holdings, which owns Hardee’s, said employees of the closing restaurant would be offered jobs in other locations.
Missouri
The Hardee’s at 1641 W. 7th St. in Joplin also closed its doors at the end of January.
A local news station reported that a sign on the door read, “Thank you for visiting our restaurant. Unfortunately, this location is permanently closed.”
This isn’t the first time the Joplin area has said goodbye to a Hardee’s. The region has seen five Hardee’s locations close since April 2023.
Illinois
Hardee’s has closed several locations in at least seven cities in Illinois so far this year.
Closings included restaurants in Champaign, Springfield, Carterville, Chatham, and Monticello.

Stores that closed in 2023
Hardee’s closed locations across the country in 2023 as franchisees struggled in multiple states.
The restaurant chain’s franchisees closed locations in Georgia, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, North Dakota, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Wyoming.
Some of these states saw multiple locations close, with cities such as Casper, Wyoming, and Joplin, Missouri, experiencing more than one closure.
Franchisee bankruptcy creates wave of closings
Georgia was one of the states that saw the biggest shutdown of Hardee’s restaurants in 2023. The Peach State saw more than a dozen locations lock their doors.
The closings were part of a more widespread shutdown by Summit Restaurant Holdings after it declared bankruptcy in May 2023.
The Georgia locations were part of 39 stores in multiple states that were closed by Summit Restaurant Holdings in 2023 as part of its business struggles.

More Hardee’s troubles
Hardee’s also faces other difficulties that have caused the fast-food chain to struggle.
A racy ad campaign a few years ago ignited a backlash. In addition, news reports suggest that many customers are dissatisfied with the chain’s drive-thru service. And like many other restaurants and retailers, Hardee’s faces rising costs.
Bottom line
Hardee’s struggles mean some restaurant locations are closing. While this is an unhappy turn of events for fans of the fast-food chain, it is possible to turn the closures into a positive.
Instead of looking for a new fast-food restaurant to purchase meals, start preparing more meals at home. This might be better for your health and it offers a great way to grow your savings in 2024.
Wyoming
Casper saw two Hardee’s locations close abruptly in July.
According to reports, the manager at one store reported that the location on the east side of the city was permanently closed.
A second location on the west side also closed.
Bottom line
Fast food might not be healthy, but it offers a cheap meal to help you get ahead financially.
However, residents of the eight states on this list now have fewer options for a Hardee’s meal. That means they will have to look elsewhere for their fast-food fix.
