Making extra money taking surveys is usually worthwhile, but Opinion Edge may not offer the best survey-taking experience compared to other platforms.

Opinion Edge

OUR VIEW

Opinion Edge is a market research platform that pays users to take surveys, with additional opportunities to earn money through tasks. Overall, I didn’t have the best experience testing it.

It offers fewer surveys in general than other survey sites, and you may not qualify for all the surveys on your dashboard. I tested this app and website over multiple days, and I only qualified for mini surveys and earned $2.26. Opinion Edge customer reviews on sites like Trustpilot and app stores are low with many unhappy users. So while Opinion Edge is legitimate, I don’t generally recommend it.

I recommend Survey Junkie, Branded Surveys, or InboxDollars for a better survey-taking experience.

Is Opinion Edge legit?

Opinion Edge is a legit paid survey site. It issues surveys for the market research firm Unimrkt Response Inc. and rewards users for completing them. It's available on the web and offers Android and iOS apps.

Opinion Edge operates in more than 35 countries. On Trustpilot, it's rated just 1.8 out of 5 stars; 85% of users give Opinion Edge a 1-star rating, while 15% give it five stars. For comparison, Survey Junkie, one of the most popular paid survey platforms, has 3.8 out of 5 stars on Trustpilot. Branded Surveys, another competitor, has 4.1 stars.

Who is Opinion Edge good for?

Students, stay-at-home parents, seniors, or part-time workers may find Opinion Edge helpful to supplement their earnings. It would also be suitable for people who want to maximize their chance of earning every dollar possible and have the time and patience to use multiple survey sites.

However, I would not recommend it as your only way to make money online. I found it challenging to qualify for the highest-earning surveys, though someone with different demographics might have a better experience.

Since it offers rewards through Tango, a digital rewards platform, Opinion Edge is also best for people who are comfortable earning digital rewards rather than a bank transfer or PayPal.

Who should consider another survey platform?

Many should consider another survey platform instead of Opinion Edge, especially if you don't have much experience taking online surveys or if you get frustrated by low earnings or disqualifications. While Opinion Edge isn't a scam, it isn't very reliable for consistent earnings, and user reviews indicate that some people have difficulty withdrawing their earnings from the site.

How does Opinion Edge work?

Signing up for Opinion Edge is easy, and I received a 200-point ($2) sign-up bonus as soon as I logged in. I downloaded the app on my Android phone and provided my name, birthdate, gender, and ZIP code.

Once I set up my account, I took the profile survey. It asked about my interests, whether I had children, and the industry I worked in.

Dashboard

After completing the profile survey, Opinion Edge displayed potential survey options on my dashboard.

The Opinion Edge app and site are both easy to navigate, but I only ever saw a handful of surveys listed at one time and didn't qualify for most of them.

Cashing out

Opinion Edge uses a level system to determine how many points you need to earn to cash out. As a Level 1 user, I had to earn $10 to withdraw funds and could only withdraw up to $15 at a time. Higher levels have lower cash-out requirements and larger maximum withdrawal amounts.

However, I found no explanation about how or when you move up to the next level.

According to the platform, it can take 25 to 30 days to receive your first cash out from the Tango rewards platform. After that, rewards can take up to 10 days to process.

Other tasks to make money

If you use the Campaign tab, you might make extra money by downloading games and apps rather than strictly taking surveys. For instance, if you download Freecash, a popular game and survey platform, you can complete various requirements to earn points in Opinion Edge (on top of whatever you earn with Freecash).

How much can you earn with Opinion Edge?

The highest-paying surveys I saw were each worth less than $2.50 (or 250 points), but Opinion Edge states you can earn up to $5 per survey (500 points).

My experience with Opinion Edge

I found Opinion Edge a bit frustrating, primarily because I struggled to complete surveys. I tried several times to take the longer surveys listed in my dashboard, but I didn't qualify for any. I did, however, earn money through a $2 sign-up bonus and by completing mini-surveys, and I even got a few points for being disqualified from surveys.

I'll note that it isn't unusual to be disqualified from surveys on platforms that pay for opinions, though this happened very often with Opinion Edge.

I also found the site's redemption rules confusing. Not only do you have to reach certain levels to cash out, but Opinion Edge also provides inconsistent withdrawal information. For instance, the website says users can cash out via PayPal, but the site's FAQs state that PayPal is not available and rewards are only available through Tango (which was my experience).

Opinion Edge reviews and ratings

Opinion Edge receives mostly negative reviews on Trustpilot and the app stores. It earned just 1.8 out of 5 on Trustpilot, which is low for a platform like this.

Many commenters call the site a scam or share that it's difficult to make money from, even if you meet the payout threshold.

For example, user Daily fun wrote a 1-star review simply saying:

Opinion_Edge_Review_07

On the Apple App Store, Opinion Edge has 2 out of 5 stars and only six reviews, four of which are 1-star ratings.

User Robbyn wrote about the low payouts:

On the Google Play Store, Opinion Edge has just 2.9 stars out of 5 and over 200 reviews.

Despite its generally low ratings, a few users like using it.

User damien gave it five stars and said:

Best alternatives to Opinion Edge

If you're looking for a survey site that offers a better experience, consider Survey Junkie, Branded Surveys, or InboxDollars.

Survey Junkie

Survey Junkie is similar to Opinion Edge, but it has better reviews and clear redemption rules. It offers surveys, a browser extension called Surf to Earn, and occasionally provides focus groups and product testing opportunities. Surveys are usually worth $0.15 to $1, though they occasionally offer more.

You must earn at least 500 points (or $5) before you can cash out. Survey Junkie is one of my favorite survey sites for Amazon gift cards because you can receive them instantly, or you can also request a PayPal or bank deposit, which can take up to five days.

Branded Surveys

One of the best side hustles is Branded Surveys. It uses badge levels to reward survey takers with bonus points, and the site also lets users download apps and play games to earn extra points. Payouts are available via PayPal, bank transfer, gift cards, or charitable donations. You'll need to earn at least $5 to cash out, and each redemption option takes one to three business days.

Branded Surveys has a strong reputation and is known for providing many surveys to take as well as disqualifying people less often than some sites.

InboxDollars

InboxDollars is another get-paid-to website and app. It offers many surveys, but you can also earn money through activities like playing games, shopping online, and scanning receipts. InboxDollars generally pays between $0.20 and $2.50 per survey, though you may find a few worth up to $10.

You can cash out via a PayPal deposit or a virtual gift card. You need to earn at least $15 to cash out for most gift cards, but some require $25. After your first withdrawal, you can cash out when you've reached $10. It could take up to 10 days to receive gift card redemptions.

Is Opinion Edge good?

Opinion Edge is a legitimate platform, but it has mixed reviews. Trustpilot rates Opinion Edge at 1.8 out of 5 stars with more than 85% of respondents giving it only one star. The number of surveys you qualify for can vary, and users say it can be challenging to receive your money after cashing out.

Unimrkt Research, a market research firm founded in 2009, owns Opinion Edge. Opinion Edge is the company's consumer-facing survey panel that offers mobile surveys in multiple languages and over 35 countries.

Bottom line

Opinion Edge can be a helpful site if you're a casual survey taker just looking to see how much you can earn. If you want to try some of the best survey sites to earn more, look for Survey Junkie, Branded Surveys, and InboxDollars. They are proven to pay out and offer many opportunities to make money reliably.

Regardless of the platform you select, be realistic about how much you can earn. Take the time to read the fine print and pay attention to customer reviews that flag potential issues.
