It's no secret that inflation has been top of mind in 2025. While no one can fully predict the future, we can look at past trends. Inflation impacts everything from groceries to the activities we love to do, including a visit to popular theme parks.

The average national inflation rate over the past decade was 3.09% per year, resulting in a cumulative price increase of 36%. Financebuzz recently examined how ticket prices at major theme parks have stacked up against that number.

Here are the 10 theme parks where prices have risen the most from 2015 to 2025, which has likely made it harder for some people to travel on a budget.

Universal Studios Hollywood saw the lowest increase among the top 10 park increases, at 44% (an average of $95 in 2015 vs. $137 in 2025 per ticket). Parking fees at Universal Studios Hollywood have mirrored those at Disneyland, both of which have increased by 106%.

Universal's Islands of Adventure

Ticket price increase: 51%

It's no surprise that Universal holds several spots on the top 10 list, with Universal's Islands of Adventure ticket prices costing $154 on average in 2025, up 51% since 2015. Parking also sharply rose, up 88%.

You can get a pass that gives you access to both parks at a discounted rate. Universal's Islands of Adventure focuses on rides and thrill-seeking. If you're more interested in a laid-back experience based on movie- and TV-themed attractions, you'll be drawn to the next park on the list.

Universal Studios Florida

Ticket price increase: 51%

When visiting this other Orlando-based Universal park, the average ticket and parking prices are identical to those at Universal's Islands of Adventure. Expect to pay an average of $154 in 2025 (up from $102 in 2015). Parking is $32 (up from $17).

While Universal price hikes aren't as high as Disney's, they are still well above the national average. Universal doesn't offer senior discounts, but you can save money through organizations like AAA and Costco.

Discounts are available for military personnel and first responders, starting at $57 (purchase up to six tickets for family and friends). Those with a season pass can buy a bring-a-friend ticket for $49.

Shopping pro tip: This month's best deals

July is in full swing, bringing the height of summer. That also means peak season for hot deals and unbeatable savings. Now’s the time to save big on:

  • Grills, coolers, and outdoor living upgrades
  • Travel must-haves for road trips and beach days
  • Swimwear and summer fashion
  • For grocery savings, grab seasonal produce like watermelon, peaches, and tomatoes

While you're enjoying the sunshine, retailers are quietly making room for back-to-school inventory. That makes July a prime opportunity to scoop up summer favorites while the deals are still blazing.

Disney's Animal Kingdom

Ticket price increase: 60%

The top six theme parks where ticket prices have risen the most are all owned by Disney. Disney's Animal Kingdom saw the smallest increase of the six ($97 vs. $155 over a decade, representing a 60% hike).

In late 2024, Disney's Animal Kingdom Lightning Lane Premier Passes reached record-high prices ($179) and are now priced at $199. Even the lowest-priced single-day ticket increased by $10 in 2025. For food, set a daily budget of $59 to $98 per adult.

Disney's California Adventure

clsdesign/Adobe pixar pier attractions

Ticket price increase: 68%

Disney's California Adventure tickets are up 68% in 2025 ($99 vs. $166), and parking is up 106%, now costing $35 for the day compared to $17 in 2015.

Being the sister park to Disneyland, pricing is similar across these two Disneyland Resort parks. However, Disney's California Adventure is more modern (opened in 2001 vs. 1955). It focuses on California culture, Pixar, and Marvel themes.

Disneyland

Ticket price increase: 68%

If you visited Disneyland in 2015, expect to pay 68% more in 2025 (the average ticket cost is $99 vs. $166). Parking is also up 106% since 2015.

For the five-day Park Hopper ticket, it'll cost you $616, up 101.97% over the past decade. While you can purchase a one-day, one-park pass for $104, it is the lowest of the seven tiers (with restricted dates).

Magic Kingdom Park

lucky-photo/Adobe cinderella castle in walt disney

Ticket price increase: 70%

Magic Kingdom Park ticket prices increased by 70%. A ticket cost $105 in 2015, and would now run you $178. Prices also surge on high-demand days — up to $199 — especially around the holidays. These dates not only draw the biggest crowds, but also require more staffing and resources to maintain the guest experience. That combination pushes ticket costs to their peak.

However, those who love fantasy and a fairytale atmosphere think it's worth it. If you're looking to save a bit, consider visiting in August or September when ticket prices are at their lowest.

EPCOT

Ticket price increase: 72%

EPCOT saw a 72% increase, which is notable given that the park's growth outpaced the national rate of inflation from 2015 to 2025. Average ticket prices jumped from $97 in 2015 to $167 in 2025.

EPCOT did add two popular rides — Frozen Ever After (2016) and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind (2022). However, parking costs have increased by 72% over the past decade. To enjoy a meal with a beer or a glass of wine, be prepared to spend $22 or more.

Disney's Hollywood Studios

Ticket price increase: 79%

Disney's Hollywood Studios ticket prices increased the most, changing from $97 in 2015 to a whopping $174 in 2025, representing a 79% rise.

Whether it's for Lightning Lane passes, shuttle fees, or sky-high food costs, expect to pay around $5,000 for a family of four, accounting for tickets, airfare, and hotel, to visit Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Bottom line

Phongsak/Adobe people riding roller coaster

Theme park prices have soared over the last decade, with some parks far outpacing the national inflation rate. While the magic and thrills remain, the rising costs can be a challenge for families and travelers trying to stick to a budget.

Fortunately, there are still ways to save more on travel without missing out on the fun. Consider visiting more affordable parks, such as Busch Gardens and SeaWorld, where prices have actually decreased. This can help you stretch your budget further and still enjoy unforgettable experiences.
